I think Sen. Kerry needs to talk about his Senate record, which is pretty thin." Dole added. "That's probably why he's talking about his war record, which is pretty confused."

Leave it to Bob Dole to tell it like it is!

The goal this week (before the RNC) needs to turn the debate into the release of Kerry's records. As we knew, they are going to continue to trash the SBV's and now try and link them to Bush. So let's see what happens.

Bob Dole, a real American hero and Retired US Senator, (retired Senator because unlike Kerry and Edwards, he did the right thing and gave up his Senate seat while Campaigning for President) who has both the right and responsibility to hold Kerry's toes to the fire on his war record and his Senatorial record as well.

That is True. Col. North had a sucking chest wound for one of his injuries. He knew command would send him home if he got another purple heart...so he did some working to get it denied at the time.

WHAT RADIO SHOW WAS OLLIE ON? Was he sitting in for someone? Does he have his own show again?!

"Great thread, thank you! And Kerry earned those 3 purple hearts in about 3 months, with not one day off in the hospital. Amazing...."

I'm still waiting for some reporter to ask SKerry, Senator show us the scars from your Purple Heart Wounds. I do understand he may have some shrapnel in his behind from his own grenade suffered when he tried to blow up some Viet Cong rice. He could skip showing this scar, if he got a purple heart for that wound.

I read Dole's comments dated May 2, 2004 and agree with Dole that Kerry's anti-war activities may be hard to explain. I guess Bob Dole has changed his mind on making controversy... Former Sen. Bob Dole isn't making much of the controversy over whether decorated Vietnam veteran John Kerry threw away his medals or ribbons during a 1971 anti-war protest. When it comes to choosing a president, "I don't think it matters," Dole, the Republican candidate for president in 1996 and a veteran whose arm was badly injured in World War II, told Fox New Sunday. Still, Dole said Kerry might have trouble explaining his anti-war activities, particularly to veterans. "He made his point, and he's going to have to live with it," said Dole. But here's the kicker of that interview, in my opinion, when Kerry states: Kerry responded to the criticism by lashing out at President Bush (news - web sites) for failing to put to rest questions about his National Guard service during the Vietnam era. Seems like Kerry could take a little of his own advice and put to rest the questions of his Vietnam service by releasing all of his records. Thanks for the link!

"I voted for Dole!!!! he was and is a good man"

I voted for Dole too...in a post 9/11 world he would have won. What a superficial, Hollywood produced, magazine cover election that was.

Agreed. But, unfortunately, he was not 'hungry' to be president.

Dole has probably been getting lots of calls from vets to speak up and do decided to take up their cause.

If he continues to speak up, he can do a LOT of good for the Swiftees.

Also, any comments he makes about Kerry's senate work will carry weight as Dole was majority leader and got first-hand experience on Kerry's vapid performance. GO BOB DOLE!

Severely wounded World War II combat hero Sen. Bob Dole questioned whether John Kerry deserved his three Purple Hearts on Sunday, and suggested that the top Democrat should apologize to his fellow Vietnam veterans for engaging in anti-war protests while they were still fighting the war.
"I respect his record - but three Purple Hearts, he never bled that I know of," Dole told CNN's "Late Edition." "They were all superficial wounds."
"As far as I know he never spent one day in the hospital, I don't think he draws any disability pay. He doesn't have any disability. And he's boasting about three Purple Hearts, when you think of some of the people who really got shot up in Vietnam."

He respects his record for what? I certainly don't respect Kerrys record being absent from his duties in DC. Where exactly was Kerry all those days he missed out as senator? What was he doing all that time? Dole should've been President not this nancy boy Kerry who has had his way paved for him.
