Something must be done about all the .50 caliber rifle shootings.

"as little as $1,200"
I sure wish I could look at an amount like 1200 dollars and call it "little."
But then again, if so many people can afford that, then I guess the economy isn't so bad after all.

You can write the editors of this paper and ask for a balancing article at: ny1news@ny1.com
It's worth a shot (groan) any way.

Something must be done about all the .50 caliber rifle shootings. I don't think anyone in the US has been shot with a .50 since the powder, patch, ball days.

It's a deadly weapon. Its a weapon of war. It should be regulated, the congresswoman said Wednesday. It should not be sold on the Internet for as little as $1,200, and it should be removed from the market. She forgot to add: "It's never been used in a crime."
BTW: Where can I get a one for $1200 "on the internet"

But be fair. She didn't call it "an easily concealable 'pocket rocket'".

Right now she's sounding pretty dim and completely uninformed. I think the term willfully ignorant sums up her mental state pretty well.

"But be fair. She didn't call it "an easily concealable 'pocket rocket'"." True--LOL---the phrase "... is that a rocket in your pocket or are you just glad to see me..." would have taken on a whole new order of meaning if she had.

If Colin Ferguson had not had a gun, her husband would have died from being beaten with a bat or hacked with a machete. Ferguson was going to kill "white devils" by any means available. And it her husband had had a gun, and was willing to use it, many fewere on that train would have died, probably including her husband. But the train was either comming from or going to New York City where mere citizens are pretty much disarmed, other than the gang bangers, and other law breakers of course.

The weapons were first used by the U.S. military, because they can pierce tanks and aircraft.Well, during WWI they could pierce tank armor (at the time tanks were basically little more than armored cars). But why quibble about something like that?

To the best of my knowledge, there as NEVER BEEN A CRIME OF ANY SORT COMMITTED with a .50BMG weapon.I think once one American criminal once used a .50BMG rifle to shoot someone at point-blank, but that's about it. At that range, it's basically just a shotgun.
Also, you should use the qualifier "in America" because around the world, I'll bet crimes are committed every day with .50 MGs (especially if you include war crimes as crimes)

"Also, you should use the qualifier "in America" because around the world, I'll bet crimes are committed every day with .50 MGs (especially if you include war crimes as crimes)" Well, I had intended the phrase ".50BMG weapon" to mean ".50BMG rifle". I suspect that the (war) crimes you are talking about are committed with the real fully-auto .50BMG mccoy machine guns.

A decent scope for a .50 costs $1,200. Now the price jumped 100% to $2,400. AP ammo runs about $3-$4 a round.
(Ma'am , the price is going up fast. You had better buy one soon!)

"(Ma'am , the price is going up fast. You had better buy one soon!)" LOL!
This woman is an idiot!
The glass alone for a .50 is going to cost $1200, and I'd hate to fire a .50 I could buy off the Net for another $1200.
I belong to two .50 caliber associations.
In all their literature I've never seen a .50 advertised for $1200.
I buy ammo off the Web for about two dollars a round, but if I buy them off the shelf, it's $4.80 a round.

What an ignorant fool. The rule known by police officers is that if it is held in both hands (in other words; any long gun) it will go through your vest.
She is just an opportunistic maggot. Ignorance is not bliss!
