Col, without a proper primary we are doomed. There will be a candidate chosen by the dems and one chosen by the repub machine.......is this what is best for NJ..........
Be careful what we wish for, we might get it.......and pay dearly.

I sent e-mails to my state senator and two state assemblymen (Republicans all) and told them I want him out now.
So far, I received this response from Charlotte Vandervalk:
From: "Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk, R. NJ Legislative District 39"
Subject: RE: Jim McGreevey Must Go NOW!
Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2004 12:48:02 -0400
Governor McGreevey has decided to resign because the circumstances of his most recent scandal have "impacted upon my ... ability to govern."
This resignation should be effective immediately.
The three month delay which he has proposed is merely a political ploy to deny the people of New Jersey the right to vote and to retain the governorship for the Democrats for another year. This is wrong. It is blatantly political.
This manipulation of the political process is just another scandal in a long line of scandals which have plagued the Governor and his Democrats.
Enough! Step aside and let the people decide.
Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk
It's nice to see that she supports ousting him now, but I wish she let me know exactly what steps she is taking to see that it gets done.

one chosen by the repub machine >>>
thanks, I didn't think of that, it's a good point to ponder.
This process is very confusing and with our State Supreme Court loaded with Whitman RINOs they will undoubtedly make sure the Democrats have the upper hand.

NJ Republicans lack a backbone and legislate and govern very poorly. I doubt very much if they have a plan at all. They must have known for some time that the heat was on and that the sleaze was going to resign. (or should have had a contingency plan including that scenario)

If we don't begin cleaning house we are doomed. We have to start somewhere and this rush to a special election is a danger to the process.

This is the response to the e-mail I sent this morning regarding the petition form.
Dear XXXXXXXX,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the lack of a return mailing address on the petitions. Our original intention was to provide the form as a template and not specifically a document to be returned to our home office. We honestly didn't expect the level of response we received. We have to accept the responsiblity of not being fully prepared, now we are trying to play catch up, quickly.
Events began to unravel far ahead, as we are also doing our best to support our President Bush. We are asking those who have downloaded the form and are distributing it to continue to do so. While we review the options available to serve as a direct collection point for the petitions, we are also seeking an individual or group to who will accept the completed petition forms.
Also based upon the direction of current events, the petitions may not be necessary. The members of Governor McGreevey's party are pushing him toward the exit. A place to which, based upon McGreevey's admission of his proclivities, a place to which he is not unfamiliar.
There are two final points for this mail.
The first, we do not wish to compete with the Republican National Convention dates.
The second, in the event McGreevey steps down prior to September 1, 2004. Those petitions should be destroyed.
Respectfully,
Offices trentonrevolution
they also had a few new webtoons, a mcgreevey bio w/ song that just fits! and a new character "budgie" corzine!

Col, without a proper primary we are doomed. I agree 100%. I'm extremely surprised that my representative, Scott Garrett is the one behine the stepdownnow site. This is the first time I can recall disagreeing with him.

We are caught between a rock and a hard place. We need McG to step down immediately, AND we need a proper primary.
All we are going to get on our side is some hack picked by the repub machine.
Might as well have a wounded McG......

We need McG to step down immediately, Could you explain why you feel this way? I'm willing to live with Cody for a year if it helps Schundler's chances.

We need a serious man to be governing this state. We need a serious person in charge of homeland security. All of McG's appointments are suspect and not worthy of our trust. It's time to clean house.
And let the FBI investigations continue. If McG stays in place he is able to thwart the investigations and hide the trails.
