WOW! This one has the potential for rapid intensification like Alex...looks BAD down there.

Whoa.
My dad's brother is in St. Pete; hope he and his wife are getting out of the way.
To: Dog
I just hope this dissipates quickly once it hits land.

It's going to miss Tampa/St. Petersburg, no doubt about it, at this point.
Port Charlotte and Ft. Myers are in danger of not existing anymore.

Yeah, I was in Gainesville during Andrew. A bunch of people(~12) had a hurricane party and they all died. Hopefully they were too drunk to realize what was going on.

My dad's brother is in St. Pete; hope he and his wife are getting out of the way.Unless the storm jogs back to the left side of the current track, they'll be on the better side of the storm - where the winds are blowing offshore. But wind damage is suddenly becoming just as big a factor as storm surge.

My #2 sister's very close friend just moved to Largo--they evacuated yesterday. It's going to get very nasty.

I've been thru them in South Texas. Stay away from the windows and hold on to your a$$. If you're anywhere near the bad side of the storm and close to the coast, plan on losing power at the minimum.
Stay safe.

135 is enough speed so even cows can fly. It's still pretty slow compared to Maglev.
If JEB wasn't opposed to it, Floridians could be evacuated at speeds up to 300 mph!

Jeez. Opal was a Category 4 storm that hit Panama City in 1995 and did massive damage that took years to repair. Glad I don't own property on Sanibel Island.

With the eastern storm surge, Fort Myers Beach is toast. Too bad, the area and people are kind of cool.

It won't if it's that big. I went through Alicia and the damage in Houston was worse than in Galveston.
