Does anyone know if hurricanes adversely affect the orange crops?

I understand Jeb has declared a state of emergency for the entire state. Howard Dean questions the timing.

Not usually, unless it's severe.
Many of the rides close when it storms though - mostly the outside ones. Have a fun trip - take some time to see real Florida, too.

The Accuweather guy on 680 WPTF was saying that if both storms hit NC, some places in the state could get a foot.
Maybe more.

Thanks for the info! This is our first time in Florida so we had no idea what to expect :).

Ackkk - I LIVE in New Smyrna Beach!

We may have to survive being 'out of the loop' when the storms hit. That's worse than having no food!

I wonder how much going over Cuba will weaken Charlie. I believe it is the eastern end of Cuba which is mountainous; so if it makes landfall as expected, it probably won't get torn up too badly. Lots of variables, though.
Looks like it's time to crank up MS Flight Simulator 2004 and select the ol' WC-130. Real-time weather data makes that program *very* interesting when these storms threaten.
