Yes. I asked for real polls on what the voting public thinks. Internet polls are worthless and are irrelevant.

Since you're so interested in this issue and have so little patience, why don't you go find out yourself what the overall voting public thinks?? BTW, share a clue... how to make this happen?

Cutting Big Stupid Government spending, or even reining in the explosion in spending growth, would also be "worth considering", but I don't see Bush doing that, either.

It's almost like an election year, what with Lucy setting down all these footballs for us Charlie Browns to kick.

"But the FairTax supporters on this board have already admitted it won't raise the same revenue as the current system."

Who said that? I'm a FairTax supporter and I certainly don't agree with that. As a matter of fact, Congressman Linder, the FairTax's primary sponsor, has two concerns about the proposal:
(1) That the economic stimulus will be so great that we will have a labor shortage, and
(2) that tax revenues will flow into Washington in great volumes and his colleagues will find new ways to spend it, rather than to reduce the rate and relieve the American taxpayer of their burden.

Me? Mean spirited? Yeah, it can seem that way. I don't have much patience for socialism in any form or those who seem to advocates for it.

If I've misread you, I'd suggest that you not write like one on a conservative board.

Read HR 25. It's only 140 pages. It is our best hope for liberty again in my lifetime.

"Just as I suspected. You have no facts on what the overall voting public thinks. I'm real interested in this issue but have little patience with those who simply preach to the choir and haven't a clue of how to make it happen."

If we don't have a clue how to make it happen, how did we get to over 50 sponsors on the house bill? To put that number in perspective, no other tax reform proposal comes anywhere near that number. Furthermore, we will have more than 100 by next summer.

Amazing how a group of people who don't have a clue can generate those kind of numbers, huh?

Without retyping your explanation, can you point me to where you have explained it? All I've seen is opposition to this.

No one is getting reamed. You are ignoring some factors.

People who have not been paying income taxes will be brought into the new system -- Tourists, drug dealers, prostitutes and tax cheats. -- The whole underground economy.

As prices drop and income goes up, so will consumption and tax revenues. The economy is dynamic and will react to the FairTax very positively producing more than enough to run the government and lead the way to reduced rates.

IF

If we remain vigilant.

50 out of how many? That's nothing. I'm talking about the voters. PLEASE prove me wrong. Show me some real facts that indicate a majority of the voters support a flat tax. I want to be wrong on this.

50% of the people pay 5% of the taxes. 5% pay 50% of the taxes. That's all you need to know. People vote their self-interest. This country is dependent upon taxes from the rich like cocaine addicts. A flat tax will never pass. I'm surprised the stupid people in this country don't completely confiscate all the money the rich have - they have the voters to do it. Just TG we don't have a direct democracy. A sales tax is more likely as an ADD-ON to what we already have. The income tax will never go away. It's a pipe dream to think otherwise.

Then contact the Fair Tax folks at 1-800-fairtax and ask them.

I am but a mere soldier in this battle, doing what I can to move the issue forward.

My "issue" is FReedom. Replacing the income tax with a National Retail Sales Tax and abolshing the IRS is the first step of many that we Americans need to take to restore FReedom to this country.

All other issues relative to Fair Tax implementation pale in comparison to the FReedom issue, IMHO.

While theoretically I agree with the sales tax and elimination of the IRS - it will never happen. First of all, the sales tax will just be added as another tax in addition to the income tax. They will NEVER eliminate the IRS. You are wasting your time. So, a national sales tax would likely result in us paying more taxes, not less, because we'd pay a sales tax in addition to an income tax. Sure, to pass it, they may claim a program to ratchet down the income tax rate over a period of time but then the dems would find a way to stop the decreases in the income tax rate. Flat tax is a more pragmatic approach IMO and at least has some glimmer of hope.

A better solution IMO to push for is a flat tax. I also think many are clueless about the politics of this and are in dreamland.

Kidding about what? You haven't posted anything except snide and drivel. If you have something of substance to say - offer it.
