Unfortunately, the script was written prior to the "War on Terror".

I had the same reaction. The absence of weapons gave the premise away rather early.

Steel compensates for fang and claw. I figured if these people couldn't/wouldn't defend themselves, they had to be appeaser types.

May not go $100 million domestic? It was at $69 million as of Thursday night, and your numbers are forecasting it to be at $86 million by Sunday. And it only came out 7/30.

How can you POSSIBLY equate that with President Bush? The commune is at least 20 years old anyway, maybe more.

Hey, I'm just reporting what SOME people have said. I'm not making the same claim. In fact, as I told another poster a Republican friend loved the movie because she saw it as bashing hippies.

You may want to request that this thread be pulled or edited by a moderator. The headline is misleading and inaccurate.

I am sorry but this movie does not bash Bush. There was no way I could come away with this idea.

All I got out of the film was the idea that no matter how you run from it, you still have to deal with human nature or good and evil.

This movie was about a bunch of wimpy people when confronted with evil ran (sounds like a bunch of hippies to me). They created what they thought was a paradise and in the end were once again confronted with the same evil they ran from because people were involved. Absolutely nothing that could be connected with Bush that I could see and I went looking.

You must not follow Box Office grosses much. "The Village" as of Thursday had already done $70 Million. There is no doubt it will do $100 Million Plus here in the U.S. and at least another $200 to $300 Million worldwide and that doesn't count video and DVD. This picture will be very profitable.

I have seen the movie and will see it again. I don't know how anyone could find a twist to it. It was obvious from the beginning what the secret was. However, it was enjoyable, no profanity or sex involved, just a tight, well written and acted bit of entertainment.

I apologize; I responded to the wrong post. I meant to respond to the poster of the thread.

I saw the movie and agree with your friend.

Talk about some thin skinned people...

Anything and everything that could be portrayed as anti-GOP is.

Wherever there are humans, there is human nature. You can't run from that.

Good take.

NOPE! In one of the scene when one of the villagers goes out to get medicine for her fiance, she runs into this park ranger who helps her get the medicine, anyway he sneaks into the office to retrieve some antibiotics and you can clearly hear in the background the radio News commenting along the lines..."16 soldiers were Ambushed in Iraq today...blah, blah"! Political...YOU BET!

I think too many people are stretching to see Anti-Bush messages in movies, tv, etc.. Hollywood isn't that smart and I don't believe that everything coming out has this type of connotation.

Very true. There are real enemies out there. We don't need to create new ones out of paranoia.

I've seen the movie and I enjoyed it. There was nothing partisan in it. It is just a movie.
