I agree. No way is this film Bush bashing. Also, "Gods and Generals" was not racist. Absurd how much people read into innocent films. This only weakens criticism of films that do have agendas, hidden or blatant -- and there are plenty of those.

Political...YOU BET!

I disagree.

The reference to iraq is simply to provide a point of reference.

Did you also notice, during the same scene, there is a reflection in the medicine cabinet glass of the man at the desk.

The man is M Knight.

"well, see now, you have reduced me to fighting in your gutter."

What an insightful response. I'm absolutely astounded at the depth of your capacity for analysis. You can't argue your position, but you can name call. That's a revolutionary method. Maybe we should recommend the "Wildwood" method to Kerry for the upcoming presidential debates. Imagine the future successes the DNC could enjoy from employing ths method!

Do you always surrender the keys to your emotional fortitude so easily?

"you're an idiot."

Now we get to the meat of the matter. Only a truly analytical mind could create such a well reasoned response.

Grow up.

Ditto. Saw it the day it opened, had heard there was Bush-bashing, saw none.

Good film, too. Gosh, these sour old prunes who get their kicks knocking everything... must be a real drag to see movies with.

Its dialogue and relationships felt very genuine, the acting was top-notch, had plenty of suspense, atmosphere, a few jumps. Beautiful, artful music and camera-work. The "surprises" (actually, there were several) were fine, though nothing can rival Sixth Sense.

And it's a movie where a major character actually RESISTS and TURNS AWAY FROM a tempting opportunity at sexual immorality. How often does THAT happen in a movie? Don't we gripe and moan that all major characters have the morals of dogs in heat? Not in The Village.

Conservatives should be praising a lot about this flick, not looking for reasons to show what superior and disdainful jerks they can be.

One man's opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Dan

So it's the lack of intellect on the part of others that prevents you from defending your position on this issue?

The consensus on this thread is that any claim to "Bush Bashing" by this movie is patently false. You hold a different view but withhold amplification, and name call instead.

From my perspective, the name calling, (especially "stupid" or any varient thereof), by the "intellectual elite" is the provence of one particular group of people.

Dan,

You are exactly correct.

I could not have put it any better.

Well, I just saw it....

I already knew the ending because it was spoiled last week by someone.

Terrifying? No. Intense and edge of your seat? Certain parts.

The movie was very good, even though I knew the ending. I'm gonna' let my kids see it, because this is about as intense a movie as I would let them watch.

Bryce Howard OWNS this movie. Her "plainness" is captivating and beautiful. You want edge-of-your-seat-find-a-bright-room-full-of-laughter scary?....rent "The Ring".
