The IL GOP can chose whomever they want. There's nothing immoral about asking for help out of state, especially when the Dems have made this a national race.
Obama ... he travels out of state to raise funds for his campaign. He was given a prime speaking spot at the convention. The Democrats are grooming this guy for the White House. The IL GOP had to do something drastic.
In New York, Hillary wasn't needed. There's no shortage of powerful liberals to take that seat. She ran because it is the only state she could have won in. She CREATED the opportunity.
Some asked Keyes if he would go in and do the same thing, create an opportunity for himself and run for Senate in New York. He said on air that he would never do that. He's still true to his word. It's all about what the people want. Illinois chose Keyes for this, drafted him. Its their choice, and theres nothing wrong with that.
Are you happy with what the New Jersey dems did with Toricelli and Lautenberg? If you can't see the Hilliary/Keyes carpetbagger comparision then the Toricelli/Lautenberg comparison also fits.
"Keyes on a rescue mission" to rescue the Illinois GOP?
I admit, I'm not from Illinois and I didn't know that much about Illinois politics, but I started researching a bit -- and I found that Illinois GOP would need rescuing if they hadn't abandoned a perfectly viable, honest, decent candidate, Jim Oberweis, who was ready, able and willing to take over after Ryan's candidacy bombed.
Oberweis finished second in the primary, behind Ryan, but the GOP party structure went over his head to approach the third place finisher,Steven Rauschenberger, who turned them down, and then, to compound the insult, the drug Czarina, Dr. Barthwell.
OK, so Oberweis probably wouldn't beat Obama, but Keyes probably won't either, so why the slap in the face to Oberweis?
Apparently it's because Oberweis is a man of principle who actually WANTS TO ENFORCE THE US IMMIGRATION LAWS. Shocking, shocking.
Sounds to me like, if the Illinois GOP needs "rescuing" it has only itself to blame.
I'm glad I don't have to vote in the state, because if I did, I'd have to vote for Keyes, and I'm glad I'm not being presented with the option.
Good luck -- hope you get some better choices in the future.
Do you live in Illinois, or are you just a big Keyes fan?
