Actually, yes. If it had been explained that:

1. As (primarily) officers, the swift boat vets were, by definition, on other boats.
   
2. But they were on the same TEAM, i.e.,coastal division, as kerry
   
3. Being on the same team, in the same division, they worked IN CLOSE PROXIMITY to kerry, COORDINATING maneuvers with kerry, often within MERE FEET of kerry, etc.
   
4. They were, therefore, perfectly situated to know whether there was enemy fire, or whether kerry retreated only to return when it was 'safe,' or whether the supposed rescue by kerry really occurred amid enemy fire, or whether the 'purple heart' wound received by kerry was self-inflicted or whether it occurred amid enemy fire, etc.
   
5. As he described in the news conference, the gunner was not only on Kerry's boat; he was in fact perched above kerry, he always had a direct view of kerry and he could--and did--observe kerry's every move.
   
6. That the doctor who treated kerry for what he believed was a self-inflicted wound didn't sign the report is a red herring. It was often the case that a lower medic type signed such reports.
   
7. The swift vets are a politically mixed bag. After leaving the military, Admiral Zumwalt, for example, ran for political office as a democrat.
   
8. No one is addressing the elephant in the room: kerry's 1971 and 1996 mutually exclusive and equally damning positions on the atrocities. Either Kerry is a liar and a traitor, or Kerry is a liar and a war criminal. Either way, Kerry is patently unfit for office.

In an upcoming post, I plan explore the fallacies coming the panicked left (as well as the fallacies coming from the politically correct, politically cowardly and politically cynical middle and right)...

I hate to say, "I told you so," but because it lacked supportive data, the swift boat ad is being dismissed as ad hominem attack by all these factions. This didn't have to be.
