Okay gang, with any luck this should be a fruitful thread. Ideological Compatibility in Romance should be a topic sufficient to fill whole bookshelves. My democrat kid brother insists that liberals are more glamorous, exciting and throw all the good parties. Here in the Greater D.C. area it's on a par with "Catholic or Protestant" in Northern Ireland; along with similarly subtle visual and behavioral cues. Now a man might do anything for a little you-know-what but that wouldn't do for a full-scale relationship. Are there any Arnold and Maria stories out there?

Yes, he was a wuss for DONATING??? Also -- I was a lib when we married. My conservative husband convinced me I wasn't thinking clearly. It is GOOD for libs to marry a conservative.

My wife was a liberal before we got married. After 13 years of marriage and two kids, she's begun to realize I'm correct about so many things (including politics) and is shifting to conservatism.
But she'll never admit I'm right!

Goos. If we can encourage liberals to date and marry themselves, Darwinism should eventually root them out. They have been polluting the Republican gene pool for too long.

It's no coincidence that some of the most flaky, unstable women I've known are democrats.
The typical psychiatric diagnosis, if anyone is wondering, is "borderline personality disorder".

"Frogozo eventually convinced him to give money to the Kerry campaign, but the gesture wasn't enough to save the relationship. "I'm now dating a nice Democrat, who I actually converted from a Republican," she says proudly. She explains how her current boyfriend recently slipped a "present" under her door: a voter re-registration card with the "party of choice" box checked "Democrat." It must be love."
Yet more tragic examples of letting the little head do the thinking. Weiners! Wake up!
In 6 months, the cutsey has worn off, she's grating on your nerves AND you may have help a dumblecrat be elected, betraying your very country inot the hands of socialists and fools. Ain't none of it that good, guys!
Be ashamed! You should be converting her! Sheesh!
[heh heh heh]

Well,
One of the many reasons I broke up with my last beau was we were so different politcally (that and he was seeing his old girlfriend again....hrmpt!)

My wife was a moderate/liberal on most issues when we began dating - but she never liked unions (because her dad had had very bad experiences with union thugs as a non-union truckdriver) and she was very conflicted on the topic of abortion.
But now that we're homeowners and parents and now that she's had experience working as an attorney for Children's Services in Brooklyn we're basically on the same page on every issue.

No way. Dating the ideological opposite makes for much better "grudge sex".
Pretty hot stuff!

I've dated my fair share of liberal women. It seems like they were the ones who always made an issue out of politics. I was happy to ignore their little personality quirk.
