Who knows maybe if Jesus was here right now he wouldn't want to hear about Christianity?""

Jesus was pretty clear that he was the Jewish Messiah. His claim --- outrageous, or insane, if he was wrong -- made a lot of people angry (got him crucified, in fact), just as the same claim, by his followers today, makes a lot of people angry. Having people mad at Christians because of the audaciousness of their claims about Christ, goes with the territory. Always has, always will. Nevertheless, we're supposed to keep telling others - gentiles AND jews.

I vowed I would not allow the rabbinic interpretations to influence

Of course. Just allow the Christian interpretations to influence.

Are you saying that a person cannot look at the same evidence Christian/Jewish and decide with an objective view and come to there own conclusion about what they believe is true?

Many people that were divided about the guilt of OJ Simpson looked at the same evidence and came to there own conclusions right?

I believe OJ is guilty 100% based on the evidence many do not hold my opinion.

No, I was pointing out the language involved. Rabbinic interpretations

Because we all know that the KJV is not an interpetation at all, right?

I'm out of here. Time to go home and then out. Have a good night.

Your equation of Christianity with porn and pot smoking and other anti-social activities shows a real streak of bigotry. If somebody likened Judaism to illegal drug use, you'd call that person an anti-semite, rightly. You sound like a mirror image of that kind of bigot. (Also, I don't agree with the judicial activists who consider "porn" a form of speech. The authors of the First Amendment didn't regard it that way.)

I dunno. I'd imagine that a rabbi would be reluctant to convert someone and thereby bring another mixed marriage into Judaism. Probably it would be handled on a case-by-case basis.

On the other hand, there are lots of girls who want to marry a guy who doesn't have a job, but spends all day studying Jewish law (in what's called a kollel). Those women typically want to have lots of children. For these women, a boy with financial assets provides an opportunity to increase Jewish knowledge in the world.

Interesting answer. As a rabbinical Jew I have to admit that I hadn't even considered the possibility.

RE: How do Jews justify not offering sacrifices today.

To NOT offer sacrifices is a mitzvah [commandmend]. When the Temple was destroyed, the ONLY place for sacrifices was destroyed. God says quite clearly that they were NOT to have any other altars in Deuteronomy.

As an aside, the first followers of Y'shua continued in Temple ritual until kicked out in about 67-68 CE. Sacrifices included. Read Acts 21 and 22. Paul fulfills a Nazerite vow (from Passover to Shavuot) and pays for 4 others as well. What was he paying for? Scripture records that the end of a Naverite vow had sacrifices.

Two books that I think would be especially worthwhile are Pirkei Avot, or "The Ethics of our Fathers," which is a compilation of watchwords from a number of rabbis during the early talmudic age (it's a very short book), and To Be a Jew: Guide to Jewish Observance in Contemporary Life by the late Hayim Halevy Donin.

That is because of the Catholic Church... Christ offered a continuation of Judaism... He did not disengage what came before him, but rather fulfilled the prophesy...

The traditions shouldn't have changed... it's a shame...

Just out of curiosity what is the benefit of studying Kollel Jewish Law all day? where does it lead to?

It isn't "kollel Jewish law", just "Jewish law". The kollel is the place where they study, like a college.

The benefit OF studying all day is that it increases the amount of torah study in the world, which, according to Jewish dogma, is a benefit in and of itself.

If you see the home of a "black hat" Jew (an Orthodox Jew who wears black suits and a black hat), you will see a book case filled with tens or even hundreds of books, which actually are studied (generally, they will be studied in partnership, with two people studying together). On the other hand, if he has a tv anywhere, it probably will be in a cramped, uncomfortable place in the house. That is because they regard any time spent not studying torah (or earning their livelihood) as time wasted.

Can you imagine if some Muslims opened a "youth club" in your neighborhood, but kept their religion a secret for the first few months(!) that teens attended their club, and then tried to convert them? Wouldn't you be mad as heck?

I have seen Orthodox Jews praying in different places and when I see them or very religious people of different faiths they always look so serious like they are un-happy, I often wondered if people can be overly religious?

I think GOD want us to have fun laugh, get with our friends and have Spa day or go to a baseball game and root for your favorite team..sometimes to much religion only leads to confusement GOD does not want us to know everything at least not yet...

Of course I didn't go to Cults ISLAM, SATANIST or WITCHCRAFT Clubs Hare Krishna Hindu religions who worship false idols...So you are claiming a double standard: it is okay for Christians to practice deception and aggressive cult-style proselytization, but not people of "false religions" have to behave ethically? If a Satanist wants to recruit your child, he has to act like a choirboy, but Christians can use underhanded tricks to win converts?

You think Satanists should be better-behaved than Christians?
