Potato chips are over 40% oil.
Right-on. A 6" vegetable sub withOUT meat, mayo or oil is more fattening than a McDonald's hamburger. The "6 subs under 350 calories" thing they're pushing is a lie--who eats subs without cheese, mayo, and/or oil?
Some folks have no sense of humor.
Like this?
That's a great translation there, and yes, I realize it's from Townhall (probably via google). I think this falls in the pointed-ribbing-and-enforcing-stereotypes category somewhat like snooty French or cold Germans.
Yes, and also in print media, political cartoonists, etc.
"A 6" vegetable sub withOUT meat, mayo or oil is more fattening than a McDonald's hamburger."
Um, no:
6" Subway veggie delight: 230cal, 3g fat

McD's hamburger: 280cal, 10g fat

LOL!!!!!
I hope Quiznos pans out...
These don't contain the cheese.
I'm not offended. It's true. When my mom and I were travelling through Europe, it became almost embarassing esp. in Venice where everyone walks. Nevermind Japan where my sister stayed for a year. If people think the stereotype about fat Americans is popular in Europe, they need to go to Japan LOL.
That is, these don't include the cheese--unless you can tell me how a 200 calorie piece of bread and 60 calorie cheese adds up to 230.

Alright...Subway, Costco on the zero shopping list for the family.
"These don't contain the cheese."
True, but your statement ("A 6" vegetable sub withOUT meat, mayo or oil is more fattening than a McDonald's hamburger.")
is still untrue.
One would think that given the example that they used, it follows that they were trying to convey the notion of Americans as stupid, I think. After all, what rational person would eat at a fast food place that puts their health in danger?
;-)

Hmmm...hmmm...tough choice. I'll stick with the big 'Q'...
You asked "who eats subs without cheese, mayo, and/or oil?" The truth is, a lot of people. In fact, the numbers are staggering. How rude for you to impose your own tastes on everyone else. The only LIE is that you actually think you know what you are talking about.
Because Subway BMT's taste sooooo good!
