When my now 27 year old son was 3, I was going to give him an apple to quiet him. An officer appears out of nowhere and warns me to put the apple away or risk a fine

I wonder whether he was protecting you or serving you at the time.

I've got news for you, if this had happened in Ohio the lady would already have an apology and the cop would at the very least be on suspension until the details had been reviewed.

Then again, things are more civil in the fly over states so we wouldn't expect you to understand.

And once again I find it neccessary to point out to you that since the metro system is federally funded that it is not a local self-governing affair. DC isn't even a state, it's a federal district.

Certainly. And the good people of the District had better give the good people of Ohio back the tax money that the Ohioans had paid to support the District of Corruption....

Concerning this local self-governance issue, the good people of the District will give the opinions of those in Ohio all the consideration it deserves.

Do you have some sort of computer program that churns out these tedious and repetitive homilies and bromides?

The trashcans in London train stations are locked too, with a sign about security risks.

Spot on. Also pinging Bill, I think we will agree here.

It appears to me that she had actually finished eating her Payday and wasn't eating anything when the transit cop busted her.

I agree that she must have hurt the feelings of the police officer by not respecting his authoriy, or something like that.

Some cops can become very combatitive if you don't display the proper attitude towards them.

"did the PayDay bar replace the $100,000 bar?"

No they are both good bars in their own right and beat the Zero bar hands down. But personally I like Millionaires.

I love how these so-called conservatives on this forum bash government and bureaucrats, but when it comes to some jerk cop, they defend him at all costs.

Amazing.

This country is turning into a police state little by little and all the "law and order" types applaud it.

He should be shot for practicing common sense.

Tons of rules and regulations makes common sense unnecessary, and without all those rules and regulations, big government is not necessary.

Big government and common sense cannot co-exist.

You mean they didn't shoot her? Sounds like a non-story to me.

We do have a VERY clean metro subway system...because no one is allowed to eat.

It also saves money on the expense of having to clean and pick up trash....Everyone knows that you can't eat on metro, I don't feel sorry for those who get busted for it.

This isn't a us against the government type argument...Metro police don't work for the "state". Metro is a partnership with three jurisdictions and they have to meet a budget or raise fares.
What you're arguing is that mall security shouldn't have the right to enforce laws either.....

She knew the law and she was a smart mouth. Let her rot in jail.

You're kidding right? According to the reports she wasn't even in the station when she put the last bite in her mouth and the cop followed her in. Since when is being a smart mouth to a cop who deserves it a crime?

And to be honest she's exactly right, instead of following her in he SHOULD have been trying to catch some real criminals.

She was on the grounds of the Metro. She thinks the law only says the trains. She is wrong and so are you.

Sorry but you're wrong. As has been already pointed out here the jusridiction of the cops begins and ends INSIDE the terminals and on the trains.

Cops do not have the right to arrest people for food that is in their mouth when they aren't even in the station.

P.S. remember this incident when you're riding in a state that has a helmet law and you happen to start and sit on your bike before putting the helmet on.

According to you they have the right to arrest you even though you aren't moving.

The ONLY reason this woman was assaulted (yes throwing a person up against a wall is assault) is because she didn't grovel to royalty.

Maybe the guard had a relative who lost their job, when PayDay moved its operations from Centralia, Illinois to some poor stinking water-polluted hell-hole in Mexico where they can pay 85 cents per hour to the slave labor there.

Would you let your children or grandchildren eat a Mexican made PayDay absent the FDA hygiene standards demanded of it in the USA?
