The people of the district elected Marion Barry several times. They're not good, they're dumbasses.
I think I had that program on my VIC-20....
So you think arresting her and locking her up for 3 hours over a mouthful of candy bar and refusing a $10.00 fine is allright?
I smoke cigarettes on CTA (Chicago) platforms, despite the signs forbidding me to do so. If I get caught, I expect to be ticketed. If I mouth-off to the cop, I expect a "tune-up." What's the big deal? Am I sheeple, or something?
I live in this area. I ride the Metro. The law was put in place because of PIGS. Just because one smart mouthed woman thinks she is above the law is not reason not to enforce the law. If you are rob the bank don't get caught. She flanted her activity. If she just took the time she would have not ended up in jail. I you don't like the law change it but get off the police's butt.
All smoking candy cigarettes too! Can't forget those ya know!! (Now they are called candy sticks i guess)!
Good for you, the fact remains however that a cop arrested her for making a smart mouthed comment. Last time I checked that wasn't against the law.
He's a jack boot and I can't wait to read about him being suspended or fired and her receiving a settlement.
Wrong again, there are laws that cover how you talk to a cop and another person.
Just another case of rules don't apply to me. No big deal.
She wasn't rude and she wasn't crass she was a smart ass. Show me the law that applies to that.
And what happens if a diabetic has to eat a candy bar are they going to arrest that person too? My money is on no way in hell.
The law either applies to everyone or nobody. Arresting someone for having candy in their mouth is BS.
He obviously WAS a "stupid cracker". What kind of moronic, pointy-headed jerk would arrest a woman for eating a candy bar. There's NO excuse for this insane cop culture that has been foisted upon us. Everyone needs to be watched and under the control of the government? Bullsh*t!
"He's a jack boot and I can't wait to read about him being suspended or fired and her receiving a settlement."
We can dream can't we?
They both agree that she put the last bit in her mouth -- but she says the officer followed her inside the station. After she made a comment, Willett said the officer searched, handcuffed and arrested her."
He told her to finish it before entering and she complied by putting it in her mouth which he agrees she did. So where is the crime?
"Wrong again, there are laws that cover how you talk to a cop and another person."
Really? I'm licensed to practice law in five states, and somehow the bar exam never covered that.
Perhaps you'd like to give us all a cite for that supposed law, hmmm?
Why do you think that the only thing they show on COPS is a bunch of low-life idiots? Why don't they ever show a SWAT team shooting a disabled man in his bedroom? Or maybe a couple of Sheriff's deputies beating the crap out of a handcuffed motorist? BECAUSE IT'S A PRO-COP SHOW! It's propaganda! Sure, there are bad guys galore out there but why do we have to worship at the feet of law enforcement to feel safe? People used to do a pretty good job of taking care of themselves before the media and their political fellow travelers convinced the generally dumb public that it should be left to "professionals". (Rant Off)
Candy bar? Woman handcuffed? Put the transit officer on the border to maybe do some good.
Cops are just like any other government employee.
They are paid for, and work for the public.
But so often these government employees (Cops included) act like little Hitlers.
If I'm reading this right, she finished the candy bar and then entered the station. So why was he trying to give her a citation?
Because peasants aren't supposed to say anything mean to the king's goons.
