SAMDT.2619 - Ammo ban - can be found at http://www.thomas.loc.gov. Ted Kennedy wrote it and his CSPAN speech is there as well in the congressional record. The .30-30 was specificaly targeted.

Now wait a minute. We complain about when "they" block legislation we want voted on. But when we block it, everything is fine and dandy?

I'm in favor of doing away with the AWB, even though it has little to no affect on anything because of how poorly it defines the weaponry, but this doesn't seem right. It's hard to complain about the left when the right allows the tactics we disagree with to permeate our conduct.

The AWB was originally scheduled to die at this time... we're just letting it end as was agreed upon when it first passed.

Let the Dems start from scratch if they want to try for another one.

That's a new one. What's the rationale for it, other than alcoholic dementia?

Wouldna thought Dr. Frist had the b@lls to stand up to anybody;

he must have realized what it would do to the GOP to be branded as the bunch that renewed Slick Willie's Gun Ban.

Be sure to take advantage of your window of opportunity then to purchase an AR-15 with pre-ban features like the good old days. I hope the gun manufacturers are ready to deliver!

OK, not flame-bait, but why? My post-ban AR-15 is pretty much the same as the pre-ban, except no bayonet lug. Not a major concern since I only shoot my targets, I never bayonet them. Both guns work the same, both take hi-cap mags.

I was very much against the AWB, but IMHO, the net effect has been pretty much "much ado about nothing".

Aside from principle, why should I care about owning a pre-ban?

FYI:

Floor Schedule:
The Senate will next convene on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004.

The ban sunsets on Sept. 13th. Keep them especially busy from the 7th to the 13th.

Re your #7 - Gee; you mean WE get to play the "Revenge" game, too?

Naaah; couldn't be; it wouldn't be FAAAAAAAIIIR!

I dont bother my RINO Senators any more; have response letters from both of them essentially telling me to go pack sand and that they will support the AWB for all eternity, as our President has promised to as well.

Some have speculated that if it comes to W's desk, it's a no-win situation for him; sign it and lose the NRA/RKBA "Base"; don't and the Mommies and "undecided" will alledgedly dump him (not sure I buy that argument, but he might).

If these MilliMommies are going to pigpile on FRIST, shouldn't we have contact info for him too? This might call for a FristFreep.

Collins and SNOWE have not represented me for some time now, and it might be nice to have somebody in the Senate who gives a flip about "us" for a disinfranchized Maine Constitutionalist / Marginalized Republican / ProLife NRA type to whine to. We sure don't get much respect up here!

Just heard on the radio that Sen. COLLINS is staying in DC with some other Congresscritters in a Committee to work on a "9/11 Response plan" while the others take off on recess. If she gets a chance to insert her pet AWB extension into the works along the way, I'd bet she will at least try to.
We'd better keep an eye on this over-vacation (under the radar?) "9/11 Commission" - I smell a RAT in it somewhere.

Any Politician who wants to disarm the American Citizen does not want to lead or represent us; they want to rule over us.
But you know that...

We are at WAR!; in Sweden and Cuba, able-bodied males are ISSUED Full-automatic "Assault Weapons" by their govenment, as well as plenty of ammo. Yet our "leaders" want to take away weapons of defense that we have paid for ourselves?

I have no doubt that our two RINO Queens fit into that category, right along with their beloved Klintons and War Hero Kerry. Watch 'em; yes. Trust 'em; NO!

Quick question: When does (or did) Congress go into recess? Which Saturday: the 24th or 31st of July??

"A MAJORITY OF SENATORS ARE ON RECORD SUPPORTING CONFIRMATION OF BUSH'S JUDGES. NO VOTE ON AWB UNLESS ALL JUDGES RECEIVE FULL UP AND DOWN VOTE."

Agreed! Also, they should hold up ALL other pet legislature accordingly. They could also package the Judges vote into every bill that comes to the floor!

Aside from principle, why should I care about owning a pre-ban?

A) The standard-cap ban has grossly inflated pre-ban mag prices, and made standard-caps unavailable for new designs manufactured after the AWB.

B) The telescoping stock feature is useful to have on a CQB carbine version of the AR-15. Some people DO use these things for home defense. Believe it or not, with the right ammunition, they can be very good in that role.

C)Principle should be more than enough reason. You should care about owning them because it's your birthright as an American to be able to. You don't have to own one, but you should care about the ability to just as much as I care about people being able to freely practice Judaism even though I am not Jewish.

And lest we forget, the great white hunter, John F. Kerry, voted for this (if I'm wrong, correct me please). And the .30-30 was just Ted's example. This whould have outlawed pretty much every rifle round currently produced except perhaps for the .22 LR and smaller.
