"You must stay really really busy."

You like to hunt, Guillermo? I do.

What's the prime-time traffic at Free Republic? Uh huh. And if 1% of that traffic shoots angry e's and toll-free's to CompUSA's customer relations, that's gonna take each of us, what, 1.5 minutes? That many adverse communications are going to result in a corporate memo to the company's store managers. That's a successful hunt for 1.5 minutes of my time.

Good.

Maybe the clerk who put it on there will be canned by morning.

Was the poster the actual topic of the thread?

I didn't think so.

"Hulk on right. Hulk believe in rugged inidividualism, strong self-defense. Hulk law-abiding until you tread on him. Then Hulk strangle smash. Don't let green fool you. Hulk destroy whole mountain if in his way. Hulk like freedom. Hulk depend on self. Hulk conservative. Hulk Manifesto end now."

That same Mexican company, US Commercial, that owns CompUSA also owns Good Guys.

Their contact info and top competitors are listed at the linked page.

Excellent. But that still leaves the store manager who reportedly said the F911 discs were a corporate decision, not in-store. That needs to be addressed too. Ueriah just set us straight on who actually makes these decisions. Call me greedy, but I want that store manager on my den wall too.

"Over my dead internet connection? " That has got to be one of the Top 10 lines of the year!

Keeping with my promise to look into this at work today...

I checked with upper management and can confirm -- in no way is having a F911 demo sanctioned by corporate CompUSA. Each individual store does have a certain amount of liberty that they have regarding what is placed on a "demo."

So, in order to have an effective FReeP, I'd advise against contacting the national CompUSA chain, and focusing on the stores that have said material as a demo. In the front of the store there should be signage indicating who the General Manager is, and his telephone number. This is the person who can have that drivel taken off demos! I would suggest calling the GM of the locations in question and explain that if this material isn't removed, you simply won't be doing business at Comp.

Hopefully if one person does that, it should be enough to get them to pull F911. The more people do it, the more it will drive the point home. Give it a week or so, see if it's still playing, and if it is after you have contacted the GM, move up the ladder as appropriate.

I'm not a spokesperson for CompUSA, I'm just a lowly grunt dealing in business/goverment/educational sales. But I am familar enough with the "chain of command" to know that this is the best course of action to take for an effective Freeping. I do know that CompUSA is in business to make a profit, however, not to pander to any given political ideology. Please accept my personal apology on behalf of the company -- I really do think that it's a good place to work, and do business -- and hopefully this issue will be corrected with a few good Freepers and a GM who understands the basics of business.

Thank you, Freepers, for bringing this to our attention!
