Ongoing criminal investigation of misuse of classified documents? Freedom of Information Act? You gotta be kidding.
bump
I wonder if the stuff removed from the Kerry site could be found on the wayback machine.
The stuff was found and archived here at FR, now propagated throughout the site.
Today, you have glommed onto Chambliss and admitted to knowingly breaking the law.I don't care HOW long it takes, due to red tape, you should have turned your girl friend's husband in and refused to translate the thing.
You're a DemocRAT;right? Some low level, gofer,or some such, who is a moral relativist.Been in D.C. long? Which explains your posts.GOD SAVE US ALL FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU!
You may not think that laws are for people like you;however, stop getting all bent out of shape, when you're told that you've broken FR's LAWS,pertaining to what and how much of it can be posted to FR!
And since you have decided to only be on this thread,I suggest that you start reading other threads about this entire matter,ASAP.I don't have to "ask Chambliss' staff".........unlike you,I've read almost every single thread about this, including the first one,on which, YOU were nowhere to be seen.
Funny...........YOU Are the ONLY one of the two of us,who ever talked about this harming Kerry.Go buy a clue.Better yet, take a class in reading comprehension.
You really ARE a Clintonista kneepadder.Go back to DU!
The point to me is how McAuliff is going to make this look. He will make it appear that all of this was done right before the Democratic Convention to ruin the Democrats. It will turn off undecided voters.
Senator Chambliss did not say he knew that Kerry gave papers to Kerry. Call his office and talk to the staffers.
Chambliss is asking If Berger gave Kerry information. IF you look at his complete remarks in his press conference on FOX and reported by WND http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39550
If is a big mistake to overstate what the Senator said because it will be used against the Republicans if initial suspicions don't pan out.
Here is what Senator Chambliss said: "No accusations are being made about how they used or if they used these documents, but this is extremely sensitive, folks, and this involves a significant breach in our intelligence community, and the Kerry campaign needs to come forward with the answers to this."
Chambliss says: "...as a member of the Intelligence Committee, I deal with classified documents every single day," he said. "We know better. And Sandy Berger knew better. And for gosh sakes, Senator Kerry knows better than to utilize those documents in any way, and we think it needs to be called into question as to whether or not they have."
None of the stuff you are saying about me is true. I The man who needed my expertise on Russian translating was in a position and had the authority to ask me for it. There was an urgent need. The document was classified but only because everything is. The Russians had given it to these people to use, but they couldn't translate it.
This thread may help Kerry and embarrass by misrepresenting what Chambliss said. Already McAuliff has embarrassed the White House by filing a FOI request.
This link is titled "Senate Republicans ACCUSE JOHN KERRY of Using Classified Info Stolen by Sandy Berger."
But Chambliss---not Democratic talking points--explicitly says he is NOT ACCUSING KERRY:
"No accusations are being made about how they used or if they used these documents, but this is extremely sensitive, folks, and this involves a significant breach in our intelligence community, and the Kerry campaign needs to come forward with the answers to this."

Correct previous post to read "This thread may help Kerry and embarrass BUSH by misrepresenting what Chambliss said. Already McAuliff has embarrassed the White House by filing a FOI request."
I think the damage is done already, whether McAuliff's FOI request is honored or not.
The Democrats get propaganda out of filing this FOI request. They make the Republicans look like they are using the DOJ against Kerry.
It is also possible that Berger did use these documents to write position papers for the Democrats, but Kerry doesn't know Berger did this.
According to posters, Kerry took the possibly secret information off his site the other day to cover up the fact that he used Berger's information. But an argument could also be made that Kerry took the information down to protect information that might be classified very highly. Whatever the motive, taking the information down was the responsible thing to do if there was a chance it contained secrets.
It seems to me that if this information is very secret and we don't want Al Qaeda to know it, why is Free Republic posting it and telling everyone (including our terrorist enemies} how to get it on the internet? This was not good thinking.
Does Free Republic care more about getting Kerry than protecting secrets? Kerry took the information down as soon as it appeared that it might be secret. Free Republic posted it.
As far as I know, you are the only one worrying about the democrats' feelings. In a few weeks no one will remember when this story broke, only whether it is still big.
I am always a bit suspicious of plea bargins. When someone agrees to plea to several counts of a felony, I wonder what they are hoping to avoid.
As for what the dems hope to accomplish in the press, consider what the press has already done to itself. Large newpapers and major broadcast networks are on record saying that the theft and destruction of Pearl Harbor level documents is no big deal. They will, I think, regret this.
"The stuffed socks and pockets is real," a senior law enforcement official told the New York Daily News. "The (theft) was reported by the guards." Guards at the National Archives told the FBI that Berger was observed stuffing his socks with handwritten notes about files he reviewed that were going to the Sept. 11 panel, the News said.
I'm not particularly concerned what the dems think, say, or do. This is in the hands of God. If the story expands, it expands. No one can stop it.
The most innocent possible explanation is that the clinton crowd wanted to be sure they were all on the same page when they testified, and that Sandy couldn't remember enough detail to brief them. This in itself would not be illegal, except for the theft and destruction of documents.
However, for this theory to fly, clinton would have to admit seeing the documents, and that ain't gonna happen.
Dear Tommydale,
You asked me "If Kerry is lily-white clean, then why did they rush to remove the port security references from his website? Unfortunately for the Kerry Campaign, thousands of us were able to get copies of the web page they think has "disappeared"."
Possibly he took down information from his website because it was going to implicate him in the Berger scandal. However, he may have taken it down because he learned form the DOJ or Berger or someone that it had classified information in it. After all, according to the Republican Senator Chambliss, "Senator Kerry knows better than to utilize those documents in any way." http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39550
Probably Kerry does know how to handle classified material. And he knows better than to advertize the fact that the information on his site was classified.
Free Republic, however, was "sloppy" and "inadvertently" posted what it claims is very highly classified information. OOPS!!!
Isn't that what you are criticizing Kerry for doing? Whether it is posted by Kerry or by Free Republic, Al Qaeda can still read it.
Maybe the DOJ told Kerry that the stuff on his site came from a secret document so he took it down quietly. Now Free Republic has reposted supposedly classified information and told everyone that it is based on a classified analysis of our vulnerabilities. AL Qaeda can learn from Free Republic what our government regards as our vulnerabilities.
Perhaps Free Republic should take down the classified information and let the DOJ do its job without Feeper "help."
Chambliss should have also shut up. He told the world and Al Qaeda that Kerry had secret information. Kerry quietly took down what may have been secret information. Then the Free Republic site reposted the information and told everyone and Al Qaeda that it was secret.
In our zeal to discredit Kerry, some "sloppy" Conservatives are "inadvertently" giving away secrets.
I notice George Bush didn't comment. He knows how to shut up. He doesn't misuse classified information to settle political scores. He's the MAN. Go Bush. Shut up Freepers.
I am not worried about the Democrat's feelings. I made a typo and this may be why you thing this.
Correct to read , "This thread may help Kerry and embarrass BUSH by misrepresenting what Chambliss said. Already McAuliff has embarrassed the White House by filing a FOI request."
I left out "Bush."
Correct my post 733 to read "Chambliss should have also shut up. He suggested to the world and Al Qaeda that Kerry might have used secret information.
That said, the only people wanting it stifled are Kerry defenders.
You have posted the CACHE to Kerry's policy on Homeland Security issues.
If you think this information that has been taken down from the Kerry site is from the documents Berger took and therefore highly classified, why are you telling Al Qaeda that it is classified and how to read it?
Kerry may be quietly and quickly taking it down because he has learned it is classified.
You should not be telling the whole world and Al Qaeda that it represents classified thinking and where to read it.
I think the mederator should remove this. Of course this is closing the barn door after the horse is out.
Please don't reveal information you believe is highly classified just to beat the Democrats. You may be helping Al Qaeda. You might want the administrator to remove these links to classified information.
I don't think it is a good idea to confirm that information is classified. Then the enemy know that it represents official thinking.
Berger is working for Kerry. The document that people are speculating about was written by Clarke at the request of Berger. I would expect that whatever Berger writes for Kerry would reflect what he has learned in his former position. He can't plagiarize his own policy papers.
...and I don't think it's a good idea to remove our posts just because one person thinks they may be damaging. Let the truth surface. No one ever got hurt by the truth, except for the liars.
As for the plagiarism statement, a speech writer for Kerry could have lifted the wording from the stolen secret document. This was suggested yesterday. I think it is obvious that the Kerry camp is in full panic reactive mode, and doing their best to cover any tracks. We'll see how long this lasts.
