"About a fourth of the Senate are women," Sen. Gloria Romero, a Los Angeles Democrat who's been working with the Schwarzenegger administration on prison reform, said in a telephone interview. "This is offensive for women. It is offensive to gays and lesbians in the Legislature because of the way that term historically has been applied. 'Girlie man' is a negative term. It is inappropriate for a governor or anybody to name-call someone who, whether he likes it or not, has been elected by a majority of people in a district to represent them." It always comes down to the gays and lesbians being offended. I'm offended by their lifestyle, but that and $4 will get me a cup of coffee.

Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco and chairman of the five-member Legislative Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus, called the governor's remark a "third-grade insult." That's the typical Homo avtivist rhetorical weapon right out of the Gay activist handbook. Sad and pathetic as it is, they use it every chance they get.

Of course girlie men is an insult... precisely why he's using it LOL Just wish Arnold had stepped in when "real" girlie men were busy lining up to get hitched in SF...

These are people who think words have a subjective definition and are looking for an excuse to be offended. For such people if you tell them they are wrong, and it offends them, even though they are clearly wrong, they will scream such a statement is "mean, hurtful and offensive."
Such people live by subjective emotional input that is not tempered by rational thought or action. They live so much by their feelings, their lives are defined by one emotional crisis after another.
Such people cannot be reasoned with, and, unfortunately, they are allowed to vote.

Give the assemblyman a break. He only has a second grade intellect, but he was having an unusually perceptive day. (Just like in the commercials, maybe he slept at a Holiday Inn the preceding night?)

them "girlie men up there in Sacramento."...He's probably a lot closer to the truth than he wants to be.
All the queens from the bay area are howling in protest. "What about us? We feel left out."

I'd like to have this engraved and framed and hung on the wall in my office. (It's okay, I have no employees to complain about what a 'mean-spirited old conservative I am'.)

Sen. Gloria Romero should move to...oh....right.
