So sad to hear Mortimer (Mr. Gravitas himself), has died. His contributions will be missed.
And in his memory, I echo those who plead for RLK to be reinstated.

It happens. Could've been hereditary and the deceased never knew it. I had a family friend who died at work at the young age of 49 who was otherwise slim trim and fit. Of course he was a republican surrounded by a large immediate family of democrats. Poor guy never had a chance. They probably drove him nuts with their inane logic.

I kinda new at this but why would a freeper be banned when a fellow freeper is found dead?

It is far too easy to let yourselves go and not take care of your body. Get out and exercise, quit smoking, don't drink too much. That's not always the problem --- I knew an ER doctor who died in his sleep at age 45 from a heart attack and he was slim and looked like he was taking good care of his body, and since he was a doctor I would assume he had regular health check-ups. Like another friend told me -- he considered that once he turned 40, each day he woke up was a gift.

From what I can deduce, it seems some individuals here are using a Freeper's death to campaign for the reinstatement of a prviously banned person who is the dearly departed's friend. Pretty classless IMO.

Wow, that's so young. Where ever you are Mort, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

FReeper Mortimer Snavely on right, July 3rd, 2004, across the street from Monroe Park, Richmond, Virginia. His sign reads
"What if they gave a war and nobody came? Why then, the war will come looking for you!"--Bertolt BrechtMortimer wrote it on the back of one of my signs and I still have it.
This FReep was the first time I met Mortimer Snavely in person. I heard last week that he had passed away a couple of days afterwards and just wanted to express my regret for the passing of a brilliant mind and sympathy for his friends and loved ones.
His posts on Free Republic give glimpses into what was a fascinating life and if anyone has more information to share about him please post it for us.

I too met Mortimer Snavely for the first and only time at the Monroe Park FReep...seemed like a really FRiendly, bright guy. I am very sorry to hear of his passing and send my prayers to his family.

Prayers and comfort to his family.

I can hardly believe this. We all just met him in person, July 3rd. He was such a nice man! July 3rd will always be a proud memory for me, and he helped make it that way.
I am very sorry for their loss, and offer prayers to his family.

He was an English teacher in Turkey, and spent many years there. He left for reasons I promised not to tell. He always wished he could go back there to live.
His absence has made this forum much less interesting for me.
