Until today, I had never clicked your thread. It is a thing with me, when someone, includes "Must Read" or similiar, I avoid it. That's just me. Not proud of it, but there it is.
Beautiful images, and I shall look, bump, and maybe even post.
Thanks for your contribution.
You could very well be right. The story behind the memorial was posted on FR several months ago...
"In Baghdad, Iraqi Shiites hold pictures of relatives butchered during Saddam."
That photo of the crying lady just about says it all.
I can't get where the Dems/Libs are coming from when they don't stand up and cheer
what's been done in Afghanistan and Iraq; let alone Libay and other places.
I guess they think that liberation and justice are just for pasty Europeans (as in the
US efforts in WWI and WWII).
Very moving set of photos today. The woman waiting with her son for a voter id card is stunningly beautiful (coming from another woman). Why did we want to cover her up so?
The soldier crossing the street as someone else pointed out, and the soldier having his head cooled off.
And we need to have some company send masks to the brick factory workers.
And it was made by a Iraqi artisan who was forced in his previous life to mold statues of saddam.
America...Home of the Free Because of the Brave...
I knew I'd find it. This is the URL of the FR post:

Excerpts:
The toppled statues were cut up into pieces by members of the 555th Engineer Group and spirited quietly to the artist, Kalat, who reshaped the chunks of bronze into a likeness of an American soldier being comforted by a small girl as he mourns a fallen comrade.
In July, 1st Sgt. Glen Simpson, former HHC first sergeant, knelt for the picture that has become an immortal portrait in bronze, said Sgt. Maj. Chuck Fuss, the division sergeant major who resides in Killeen, Texas.
The little girl portrays, in her eyes and presence, a sympathy mixed with gratitude. She was added to remind people of why the sacrifice was made, Fuss said.
The looks on the faces of the children says it all. What a powerful message the population of the West is missing because of the bias of the media. The pictures remind me of Germany and WW2 where I was as a child - my memories of the soldiers then and how warm and kind they were, have stayed with me all my life. Everyone in the US should see these wonderful photographs. Thanks, Diogenes.
I see that and think of the Madonna, the Holy Mother.
WOW. This is great.
wonderful to see good news pictures of our soldiers and the people of Iraq. and the statue. Heck they are all great.
Someone help me out with what this 'amnesty' for the terrorist is about. who is he anyway?
Yes, isn't she just amazingly beautiful?
And I also forgot to comment on the pictures of the saddam protestors. We are definitely not going to see that emphasized in the media. Can't thank Diogenesis enough for compiling these.
Thank You Thank You Thank You. Seriesly, Thank You!!!!!!
If no one has gotten back with you, the terrorist is the one seen in the post 9/11 bin laden video yucking it up about the attacks.
Saudi Arabia offered amnesty to any terrorists who would turn themselves in within 30 days. This guy apparantly took advantage of that amnesty.
ALL RIGHT! I live for these. Someone had to see this spontaneoulsly. Can't get that many people to act/pretend.
Keep 'em coming.
Long thread on his surrender to Saudi authorities two days ago.
The amnesty is being granted by the Saudi King for 30 days, and is about to run out. It is an amnesty from the death penalty under the laws of the Kingdom. It is not an amnesty from religious (Shar'ia) law.
It remains to be seen how this will play out.
May God bless and keep safe every American soldier! Thanks for these photos, Dio.
So, fall on the mercy of the Saudi King's good will, or continue to face death from the US... hmmm.
Wonder if these guys have inside info that Saudi is about to get serious? Can't imagine why such a high level guy would have surrendered otherwise.
