Comprehensive and affordable health care coverage would become a constitutionally-protected right for all Massachusetts citizens Exactly how could it POSSIBLY be affordable? Government subsidized premiums? That doesn't work - my health insurance is through a system set up for state employees and teachers - and our rates have been going up as fast or faster than the national average - and it's subsidized.
My wife's health insurance has gone up FAR slower than mine - and hers is not government subsidized.
Hmmm...go figure.
So what they mean by affordable - some will be able to afford it, while the rest of the taxpayers have to dig deeper in both higher premiums in their own un-subsidized premiums and in their taxes....
Yep - real fair....

I just hope they won't mind the housing shortage produced when all the deadbeats move there from all over the US to get their snouts in the trough-I hope the ones in Texas go first...

Vernon said, to ensure the amendment does not lead to tax increases that the voters are unwilling or unable to pay. Health care at no cost to taxpayers? What, are they going to draft doctors and hospitals to work as gov't slaves?

I'd vote for it if I could get it without a tax increase. In reality, they won't be able to provide without the levels of taxation you have in Canada. There's no such thing as a free lunch and health care ain't an exception to the rule.

There will be no housing shortage. No one will be able to afford the property and income taxes. There will be a housing glut. But hey, it will be a great deal for all those HIV positive couples from SF.

while the rest of the taxpayers have to dig deeper in both higher premiums in their own un-subsidized premiums and in their taxes.... Exactly. This is nothing but a boondoggle that will open a future door to raise taxes.

If Massachusettans are smart they will see it for what it really is - an attempt to raise taxes without having to tell voters they're doing it. The Democrats as usual, are figuring out how many people they can fool.

Maybe they'll put up some nice tent cities for the unwashed masses in the better areas of Boston...
