Do you want to really have a society where one is judged "not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character", as Dr. King said 41 years ago?

The fact is BUSH gets it..."the dream"...The NAACLP doesn't. The can't see the forest for the trees.

The hate crime bill is Federal Law and that would have been higher priority than state law and Byrd's family statement is bogus politics. I was in Texas at the time and Gov. Bush made sure that all criminals that got the death sentence stuck. You can only execute them once but it's a jury that decides who!

BTW, I've read that, that racial crime was retribution for racial rape in prison.

James Byrd didn't rape anybody.

Yes but unlike all whites taking responsibility for racism, all black must suffer for what happens when you pack together America's scum of the earth. Don't you know this by now?

That's right and all this was made clear at Q&A during the 2000 debates. The naacp lied and they owe Bush an apology, not an invitation to suffer more abuse.

The person made the assertion that racial crime is a response to racial rape in prison. That is baseless crap, making innocent people responsible for what goes in prison. I've never heard such a ridiculous assumption before in my life. BTW, naturally because the NAACP uses the dragging death for its own nefarious purposes does NOT make it suspect, etc.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought you meant it in sarcasm, but had to be sure. You and I think alike about a lot of issues.

Not bad, but Bush should have come out and called them "extremists who speak the language of hate."

"extremists who speak the language of hate."

I would have said this, the President has much more restraint.

You are correct sir!

McClellan said the Bush administration has been courting African-American voters through its political agenda.

Imagine treating the voter as a thinking human being who will make a choice based on whats best for their family. Wow! What a novel idea.

''We're not fools,'' he said.

Certainly you are Mfume. You worship at the altar of abortion while you deny those lucky enough to survive the abortion clinics a "choice" in what school they attend.

You ignore the decimation of the black family by LBJ's Great Society and pine for more of it.

Be a man Mfume, marry the woman who bears your children and support them, educate them and teach them not to kill their own babies.

After doing a few searching I believe you're right. I swear I read that from a respectable source a few years ago, it was a international group speaking out on prison rape. But, I can't find it now. Sorry

Yes, that's rather obvious. He has too much restraint for his own good. And for the morale of his supporters. We need some tough stuff from the president. He can't just think of what he's personally comfortable with -- as a leader, not a private citizen, he also needs to think of what his supporters, and the American people generally, ought to hear.

I don't give public officials a pass on these things. If you go into public life, you can't just cherry-pick what you'll say and not say, or do and not do, based on personal wishes or those of your family. You have higher responsibilities.
