"I guess it is OK, with you, that we no longer live in a free contry... If you think we are living 'free', you need to study the history of the 50's and 60's (if you didn't live it).
Our freedoms are slowly being eroded, not just by politicians, but by the beaurocrats they designate to f*ck up our lives. "
Complaining about New York the capital of liberal-ville having too much protection is ironic. Who did this bunch elect as mayor and senator?
Now we the people of the US have elected and allowed all this societal engineering by the "beaurocrats" and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
The public school system, run by UNIONS and LAWYERS brainwash the ideology of class warfare. Maintaining power, using control over one's property, via land usage orders and fees, permits, and taxes is part of the pattern for CONTROL.
Two thirds of this nation were continuously polled with a favorable count for Clintonism and today we are so entrenched with that Cult of Clintonism because too many were seduced with their con game.

Life isn't just a choice between Republicans and Democrats. Ashcroft is "better" than Reno in the way a poke in the eye is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Actually Wall Street is a target of the tax and spend Queer Johns, $inator Hildebea$t and the other rats in Congress.
If the Queer Johns are elected, the stock market indexes will drop like they did after 9/11.

Scenario:
Authorities fear that the death toll in yesterday's bombing on Wall Street, suspected of being the first domestic al Qaeda terrorist act since 9/11, could reach 20.
In other news, Lance Armstrong regained the yellow jersey as the Tour de France entered the difficult mountain stages where he excels.

Life is not a panacea. Reno was little more that a stick figure who mouthed the script. We have learned that under the stick figure was a Gorelick that put into place a WALL that prevented terrorist from being stopped.
Liberals daily demonstrate their existence to better themselves while taking away from the lower classes. I can't imagine what Ashcroft has uncovered, but he did give us a peek at that 9ll Commission Hearing.
Liberals are all for laws that they can use to control the masses, and place walls to protect their own. I have confidence that Ashcroft does not perform his authority in the same manner, which does not mean I think he is perfect.

"You attack this country again and there will be hell to pay." Damned straight.
I don't think so. At this point we need to issue a statement: "Mecca, Damascus and Tehran are on a list of cities to be nuked immediately following an attack on US soil. The choice will be made at random."
We don't have the spine.

When I was in Manhattan a few months ago the place was like an armed camp. There were literally ski-masked paramilitaries standing outside my hotel with M16s in hand. There were two cops walking down the street for every civilian.Get thee to a Duane Reade.

Wall St is now expendable it can be replaced in a single hour. Your timetable might be a little agressive, particularly if the attack is a low-yield nuclear device and most of the workers in the area are killed. That said, a relatively modest suicide bombing attack on the Times Square area during the RNC would probably deliver just as much economic damage. Terrorism is at heart a media event, and the media is in midtown. Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Grand Army Plaza would give you NBC, ABC and CBS coverage.

Oh get a grip, those cops aren't arresting and dragging away innocent people. You wanta be in Manhatten with no police protection. The locals would eat you alive before the terrorists got there. Your comments are silly.

The Mexican troops are everywhere, armed and beligerent! There are many "armed groups" in Mexico. Police of various jurisdictions, the Federal Police, the Army, private security forces. None get along. And mostly they are there for the regular food and a little money. Not fighters.
Interesting that you say they appeared belligerent -- are you up near the US border were the narcotics trade may have emboldened them, or easy prey made them vicious?

How exactly did the police presence interfere with *your* freedom? Had you intended to spend your vacation mugging, breaking and entering, urinating in public, or otherwise engaged in illegal activities? You can't recognize a "police state" when it's staring you in the face.
The problem with an anonymous commando presence in the streets is not what they didn't do to you yesterday, but rather what they *could* do to you tomorrow. If history is any teacher it will not be pretty.
It's caused me to start keeping one foot in this country, and one foot in another.
