Dittos to that Lieutenant!
Yes, FOL(iberty) and I went to high school with Paul; very good guy, very smart - hate to see a classmate cut down so young...
Very sad, outrageous and tragic.
I demand justice!!!!
Just Googling around, Paul Klebnikov, a UC Berkeley and London School of Economics grad, probably had a lot of enemies but how accurate a reporter he was is in doubt. His book about Boris Berezovsky, "Godfather of the Kremlin: The Decline of Russia in the Age of Gangster Capitalism" (2000) was poorly reviewed by many for bad tabloid-type journalism and he was sued in British courts for falsely quoting some alleged sources named in his book.
It seems like he had a lot of gangster acquaintances in Russia, Muslim and otherwise, and who knows what gang finally decided to kill him? It may have been authorized by the Iranian mullah crowd or another newly mega-rich gangster faction. What may have been a most significant factor in his murder was his list published in Forbes only 2 months ago: From the article:
In May, Forbes attracted wide attention by publishing a list of Russia's wealthiest people, claiming that Moscow had more billionaires who worked there or amassed their fortunes there than any other city in the world.
