You are 100% correct. The immediate aftermath of the Lewinski story was one of, if not the, most miraculous recoveries in the political history of the entire world.

He saved his presidency by casting himself as the victim of evil Ken Starr, when Starr had absolutley nothing to do with his perjurious testimony in the Paula Jones case. He spouted it now and he's still spouting it becasue that's the lie that worked. (See my following note to "A Citizen Reporter".

"I just don't believe that resigning is in the thought process of a narcissistic sociopath. And he has proven himself to be that."

And more than that, what he told Lehrer is no more the truth than what he told him at the time. For Clinton, the truth is whatever he thinks will work for him the best at the moment. I doubt he has any concept of 'truth' as normal people see that word.

The truth is whatever happens to work for him at the time, and the vilification of Ken Starr worked for him, and he's sticking to it.

John F. Kennedy, wrote "Profiles in Courage"

Well, not really, but your point is taken.

He didn't have to worry. He had Trent Lott and several other Republican senators in his back pocket ready to bend over one more time - which they did, at the same time screwing over the House Republicans. Disgusting.

I don't think we will ever know if it was the FBI files or just straight blackmail that made the Senate GOP bend over but I hope that one day we will be told the "why" behind our refusal to allow evidence to be presented and who made the deal.

This guy has one troubled and haunted soul.

How can his soul be troubled and haunted when he has none?

This is slightly off the subject, But this evening ex-president Bill Clinton's tome, "My Life", was in a bargain bin at the local Safeway. The store marked it's price at $14.95. It would be 20% less if the purchaser also presented his Safeway card.

It was so funny to see Slick Willie's book sold along with last year's diet books, Shrek I activity books and box sets of juvenile paperbacks.

"I can't help but think about how the 'rats hero, John F. Kennedy, wrote "Profiles in Courage" "

Except he did not write it, others wrote it and he put his name on it.

Regards,

"How can his soul be troubled and haunted when he has none?"

He does ... and why he is behaving this way. Deep down he knows he is wrong. He's trying to unload it without getting into too much trouble.
