What can you say to that? I dig the song, the main guitar riff is haunting and it fits. I had always assumed Peart and Lee were at least partially basing this song on the Nazi deathcamps anyway so I guess the only surprise is that he is the son of survivors.

Is it safe to say he might have a different view of the war on terror than most of his music industry colleagues?

I knew Geddy's parents were Polish immigrants, but I didn't know the whole story. Incredible story of an incredibly talented man.

Grace Under Pressure is my favorite Rush album, never quite got why it's so despised among most Rush fans...besides the whole synth/no synth thing.

Just saw Rush last night in San Diego. It was very good though the sound was mixed a little rough in the first set. They played 2 sets, 90 min. per set and at least touched on just about every major Rush tune you can name.

And yes, the did play “Red Sector A” though I was unaware of its background till now. I hadn't realized Lee was Jewish.

I didn't think it was possible to like Geddy and Rush more than I already did, then you posted this. Thanks for the great post!

Red Sector A is one of my favorites, but one look at the lyrics tells me that Peart had other death-camps in mind as well. Rush BTT...

Wow.

I never had any idea that Lee was originally -- what is it? -- "Gary Lee Weinrib"? -- and that he is the son of survivors of the camps. May God continue to bless him and his mother.

Not a big fan of Rush (I don't care for his singing voice), but I admire his talent and hard work. And anybody that plays a Rick can't be all bad (grin).

I think I might buy a couple of his CDs just to support him, and give 'em to friends that are fans... I guess I understand where your screen name came from now (come to think of it you have mentioned it before).

Definitely an eye to the future. At least there are some folks that remember that history is repeatable.

Thanks for the post MFH. Rush has been one of my favorite bands since I was 16. (Yes the other main fav.)

I feel incredibly lucky to have been a fan of theirs, following them through their entire career, and seeing them on every tour at least once.

I have tix for the Atlanta show on Aug. 1. They are coming here to make everything better ... they are coming to make airplanes out of beef.
