No, you attacked the entire Mormon religion based upon your experience with one ex-girlfriend.

Actually, about 30-40% of the high school I went to in eastern WA was Mormon, so I got a pretty good idea of how things work. So, yes I think Mormons are kooks.

A friend of mine, years back, heard a knock on his door at 8AM on a Sunday morning. He pulled some pants on, got the one clean shirt he had left, and went downstairs to find, at the door, a JW and her preteen child. Imagine their shock when they saw what was emblazoned on his T-shirt... "SATAN'S ETERNAL SERVANT". They didn't stay long.

As for me, I've found that a German Shepherd is a wonderful deterrent. The dog in question has since passed on, but the reputation persists.

I agree... I could care less how many wives a man has as long as HE is supporting them. Muslims in arab countries that still practice polygamy take as many wives as they can support. For some that means one. The practical problem for conservatives is that this branch of the LDS is not actually supporting all of their families. They skirt the law by legally 'divorcing' one (while she still continues to live in the compound and 'service' him), and having the divorced wife apply for assistance for her children and herself. Then he marries another, and starts yet another family. This drains the state in whatever state they set up shop in.

Homo's make their choice, Muslim Extremists made their choice, stand by for the consequences of your choice and what may be coming to you. Muslims and catholics I don't have a problem with. Europe will do whatever it wants, but I can have an adverse opinion to their actions/statements - I'm not part of their community, I am an American and proud of it.

Am I missing something here...

Welcome to FR...

(Dont mistake kindness for weakness...)

That's a great tagline. But it doesn't go far enough. Kindness is showing strength.

At least that's my opinion. :->

From Post 1: Okay. I'm not a Mormon. I dated one in high school and found out what kooks they are.

From Post 31:The only reason I added the kook comment (see post #1) was to illustrate that I can not be a Mormon and still think it's wrong to openly bash them.

So calling the whole lot of them "kooks" is not bashing them, but you only called them all "kooks" so that you could illustrate that you are not a Mormon "kook" and that it is wrong to openly bash the Mormon "kooks?"

Ok, I get it. Sorry. I must have misunderstood your sincere good intentions.

That's kind of a kooky position to take, isn't it?

Right on. The polygamists in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona are cheating me by sucking up welfare money for their multiple families. If anyone over the age of 21 wants to live in any arrangement they please, they should do so, with the two caveats that I and my tax money don't pay for it, and that minors are protected.

We see polygamy cases here in Utah all the time. Many of the heads of the families are rich, owning multiple businesses and properties. But they farm out girls and women like breeding livestock; and they take every advantage of the state welfare benefits.

Those people in Texas are right to be concerned.

And please, everyone, remember; this bunch and other polygamists have no connection whatsoever with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Everybody, let's stop this bickering. Let's agree upon two things: The Democrats are kooks and black olives ruin a perfectly good pizza.

That I am aware of, I have had little exposure to either LDS's, or JW's.

However; I have known one Jehovas Witness. He was easily the most honest, sincere, and honorable person I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He was so fine an example of a human as to be both embarrasing, and uplifting at the same time.

There is a difference between calling them kooks and wanting to run them out of town. If my calling them kooks (without any statements to back this up other than personal experience) convinces any unwary reader of this thread to hate Mormons, then I guess I stand guilty of bashing Mormons. Truth be told, I guess anyone who doesn't believe the same as I do (whether they be Mormon, non-Christian, Calvinist,Catholic, etc.**) would probably get the same 'kook' label from me. It's not the exclusive badge of honor you make it out to be.

**PS. If your group is not listed, and you too would like to be considered a kook, please reply to this tread so I can get into a long and tedious argument with you that really isn't going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for clarifying a murky post. I'm sure there is some misinterpetation there(suppose I should have checked the ref first to the paper), even if we agree to disagree, or whatever, we are all entitled to our opinions. Have a good day...

The biggest sect, largely populate Salt Lake City, actually do NOT support or believe in polygamy

But they do "testitify" that the men who started and promoted polygamy were the true prophets of God. These men prophesied that it was under Gods command.

I agree with Issaquahking that in the politics, and property rights issues I have worked with many LDS and they were fine, upstanding citizens.

What I don’t appreciate, and usually put my 2cents in is when the truth is not told about history I know much about, or some try to win converts using FR.

I too come from LDS heritage, and I am not a kook.

These polygamists are not Mormons. They are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have formed a sect and have named it in an attempt to pretend that they have some legitimacy or a connection to the LDS Church. Polygamy has been banned from the LDS Church for over a century. When are people going to figure that out and stop connecting this stuff with the LDS Church?

There is proof Jesus lived. They have found Sodom and Gomorrah. There are men right now going to the location of Noah's Arch from Sat photos. We know where the saints traveled. I could got on but I still need to have more proof on the tablets that I think are a fabrication.
