My Dad served some time as a staff officer under General Patton in the 70's. I haven't heard too much about him other than that he was a General who was actually concerned about his troops....he believed that a good appearance generated pride and gave the troops the spirit.

In 1978, had the good fortune of meeting the General as a teenage Army Brat in Kelly Barracks, Stuttgart Germany. Was friends with his daughter Helen. Even watched their own copy of Patton in the Generals military quarters. Remember, my father (a LtCol at the time) was a little nervous hanging out with the Generals daughter. One thing I certainly remember, was his piercing look, it was like he was looking straight through you.
