The absolute last thing an NHRA viewer wants to see.

The absolute last thing an NHRA viewer wants to see.Exactly....(Is there a link to a video?)

With luck some good can come from his death. Another good long look at safety issues should result.

I saw a guy die at the local drag races when I was about 8 years old. He had a heart attack and never hit his brakes and went off the end of the track into a tree. I pray for this guy's family.

So you're not a NHRA viewer?Sure...
NHRA, that's the one with the really fast cars that mostly go straight, right?

Another good long look at safety issues should result.NASCAR type "safety"??? How about restrictor plates?
To: Onelifetogive
I saw it on ESPN. The engine just detonated and the car went onto several pieces. The cockpit stayed attached to the engine and the oil fire was huge. I would guess burns and suffocation were the cause of death.
Very unsettling images.

Congress must pass laws to slow those deadly dragsters down.
To: nypokerface
while traveling about 300 mph It's an awful thing, but with land speeds like that, it's bound to happen occassionally.
Rockets should be flown, not driven.

Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
I see that Rusty Wallace is now the fastest man in a stock car. Unrestricted laps at Talladega. 228 MPH top speed and a 216 MPH average....without the draft.

"Congress must pass..."
I agree. all dragsters must use the same engine found in my Camry: a four cylinder engine that is the same found in the "Tickle me Elmo" doll.

NHRA, that's the one with the really fast cars that mostly go straight, right? Yea. NASCAR is the one with rednecks turning left.
