It is very easy to find information on the 1996 SBC resolution exhorting a targeting of Jews for conversion... just do a Google search, there are a lot of different attempts, both straightforward (like the SBC resolution noted above) and deceptive (Messianism, Jews for Jesus).
Perhaps Jews are simply more aware of these things than the average Christian, since they apply directly to us.
That's IT?..after such a vehement inital disagreement? (G)..I was all set to put on my flame retartdent underwear..
Yes I have. But it seems unlike you I am strong enough to deal with it and not feel personally threatened, which I will never get. Comparing islam and Christianity is just sick! Even the Christian cults (Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses) are not at threat to your person unlike islam. You can tell Christianity no without fear of life because it is a choice that each person must make and there are many who will say no and even that is accepted in Christianity. But having fear because they ask... what a joke!
What the Catholic Church did in the past when it was not following the Bible is not Protestant Christianity. This is the one thing that the Jews I know can not separate they see only the Catholic Church history as Christianity. There is a big difference. America is unique as a country because of our Protestant Christianity and its principles used in the founding of this country. I will never get the fear of it,because it has created the freedoms this country offers, nor do I understand the wanting to get rid of these principles and the equating them with evil.
I went to the Frontpagemag site and the original title there is Do Immigration Trends Doom Jews? not what you claim it is.
Yes but that's not the title of the selection you posted. Besides I believe another freeper once posted that Auster article with that title referring to muslims.
Well, if it was a choice between that or death, I might convert. Most religions don't threaten the unconverted with death, so I think it would be a nuisance, nothing more. No worse than Sears targeting me for a new washing machine, or MTV targeting my daughter for hip-hugger pants.
My mistake. Please accept my apology. Heading restored.
There is a reasom why majority of Jews settled in Eastern Europe - they were tolerated there better than in other parts of the world. And there was no such thing as "periodic" or mass pogroms. The main reason for emigration was the poverty of this part of the world. The mass killing of Jews came from the West - Nazi Germany.
The only exception was a bloody uprising of Ukrainian serfs against their Polish overlords and Jewish overseers. This took place in 1648 and hundreds of thousands of Poles and Jews were slaughtered. (In a sense it was not very different from the peasant wars in Germany directed against the nobility as the main motive was social/economical).
This article is titled:
Why Jews Welcome Muslims by Lawrence Auster" at http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=13894.
You posted the wrong link, now the title is wrong too. Those Admin Moderators cant get anything right :>)
Your link leads to a different article, Do Immigration Trends Doom Jews? at http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=13881
As to the premise/title, its bogus. Certainly there are liberal Jews who support loose immigration policies, even open borders. More Christians support those policies, its really a liberal vs conservative thing, but well ignore that.
I never seen a Jewish group specifically advocate targeting Muslims for immigration. The overwhelming majority of immigrants, legal or illegal, are CHRISTIANS. If liberal Jews were motivated by a fear of Christians, theyd be screaming for the borders to be shut down, especially the one we share with a Catholic nation to the south.
I'm confused too :)
I think Christianity is a fine religion for non-Jews, the best of all available alternatives, to my knowledge. The reason Jews don't attempt to convert others, and in fact discourage conversion, is that the essence of Judaism is choosing virtue of one's own free will. While we may disagree on specifics of doctrine, the essence of Christianity is very similar. So I guess what I am saying is that Christianity is essentially a vehicle for bringing the lessons of Judaism to non-Jews, which accords with its historical development.
And if they target your children, as happens to us, would you continue to be indifferent to it?

If the alignment of Jews doesn't matter, why then this article?
Fixed. Thanks.
Yes, but when there is targeting of Jewish children the character of the relationship changes dramatically. Evangelicals don't confine themselves to adults only.
So was I ;)
