"Dry drunk is a slang term used by members and supporters of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors to describe the recovering alcoholic who is no longer drinking, one who is dry, but whose thinking is clouded. Such an individual is said to be dry but not truly sober. Such an individual tends to go to extremes."

And this isn't an accurate description of the author of this disconnected, paranoid, lunatic rant?

There's nothing to refute or correct. It's just libelous vitriol.

"I think a former drinker who hasn't touched a drop in at least 10 or 15 years probably cannot honestly be called a 'dry drunk'."

Agreed.....it takes a strong person to overcome an addiction and President Bush has certainly proven that he is strong.

Bush has been displaying "increasingly erratic behavior and mood swings," reports Capitol Hill Blue, an Internet news site. Doug Thompson and Teresa Hampton, who once wrote a scathing piece about Bill Clinton's serial groping and sexual attacks on women, have written a chilling account that raises serious concerns about Bush's state of mind these days.

Anybody that would quote Doug Thompson (a man absolutely proven to write articles based on invented sources) deserves to be writing for the Niagra Falls Reporter.

Gallagher fails to mention that the reason we are in Iraq currently is to rebuild the country. We are trying to create a liberal democracy, just like we helped do in East Timor, Bosnia, and so forth. The President has said this from the get-go.

Frankly, this Gallagher guy sounds like a guy who has real drinking issues himself. Not surprising, considering his last name..

The left has gone seriously round the bend.

Lileks got it right, today:

The Bleat

I think it’s going to have to get much worse before we get clarity. Most days I just don’t know what to say anymore. There are fiends out there chopping off the heads of Americans for their god, and we have cartoonists who think it’s the height of insight to show the Neocon cabal as port-swilling fat men bothered by baggy pants on insolent teens.

I understand the desire to whistle when passing the graveyard; it’s human nature. I don’t understand climbing down into the hole, crossing your arms on your chest, feeling the first few warm clumps of dirt on your face, and puckering your lips for the first few bars of “Happy Days Are Here Again.”

"mood swings"

I think my mood would swing too if every time I turned the TV News on and there was pics of tortured Iraqi prisoners then a little bit on an American beheading....then, Bill Clinton pushing his crappy book....

I just finished reading Lileks' Bleat today. This was the first post I read afterwards, and here you had the same thought as I did.

What I want to know is why Rupert Murdoch is paying this guy's salary.

The lies, delusions and deceptions of George W. Bush have reached a point where the "dry drunk" madness and the "stinking thinking" in his frighteningly flawed mind are what drives all his remarks on the bogus al-Qaida-Iraq connection and the president's rigid, judgmental world view.

We see, everywhere, in others what we see in ourselves.
