Straw man argument from Roger Ebert. The BIGGER question is how can a film be called a "documentary" when it plays fast and loose with the facts? What else is it when scenes are staged or edited to misrepresent a timeline?

The wise French director Godard once said, "The way to criticize a film is to make another film." That there is not a pro-Bush documentary available right now I am powerless to explain.

(A) How can a "pro-Bush" documentary answer the charges in Mr. Moore's film when no filmmaker has seen it with enough time to make a rebuttal film?

(B) What conservative theater chains are there that would book a "pro-Bush" documentary? Count out Angelika, Landmark, and all of the university run theaters.

(C) Campaign Finance Reform has seen to it that a financially well-off Republican can't even BUY the airtime to air his rebuttal if he filmed it. (with Michael Moore's film being released so close to the election).

Yeah, Rog, this is some level playing field.

This film needs to be mentioned in the same breath as "Triumph Of The Will" and "The Eternal Jew". It serves the same end and is purely propaganda.

Ray Bradbury does not like the fact that Michael Moore has hijacked the name of his book and movies "Fahrenheit 451". He called Mr. Moore a "screwed a**hole" and a "horrible person". Michael Moore does not oppose totalitarian regimes, he unwittingly(?) gives them aid and comfort.

I agree with Moore that the presidency of George W. Bush has been a disaster for America.

Probably because we're still here and "The Passion of The Christ" made so much money.

What truly makes me want to wretch my guts empty is this:

The VERY SAME PEOPLE who decried "The Passion of Chris" should NEVER have been made, much less viewed by the mass for fear of inciting people to violence, are CHEERFULLY extolling this bit of Goebbels-esque propaganda that will result in the death of our soldiers and the enslavement of millions of Iraqis if we pull out. AKA Cambodia 1975.

Of course, "Socialist" of a feather, "flock" together!

Laugh it up butterball...

Think any theater chains will be showing this one?

:

The chains avoided this one when it was released back in 2000 (although it did find a DVD distributor last year):

Ebert brags about being a running buddy of the late, great Mike Royko. Obviously he didn't learn anything from that association.

Only in a society where multiple views are expressed and examined can you truly have a democracy. Who can you imagine initiating a book-burning - Bush or Moore ? When you compare the films that Moore produces to Nazi propaganda, you had better be able to defend yourself. Making deliberate comments to devalue a human's life by comparing him/her to Nazi germany without evidence is reckless and dangerous.

Just because an individual has an opposing point of view, does not make them a Nazi. Nazi's were intolerant of the Jews - can you not say the same about how you react to the left.

It seems odd that the left you dislike so much will at least listen to your opinion. How many liberal talk shows/web sites do you know off ? How many conserative talk shows/web sites do you know off ? A conservative friend of mine and I were talking about this and he could only name one - NPR - which ironically includes conservatives when discussing issues. Once I pointed that out, he could not think of another.

My point is only that hate, anger, prejudice and ignorance seeks to divide humans.

I challenge each of you to watch the movie and make your own decisions. Check the facts - most of which can be checked against the 9/11 commission report. I have seen several reporters question Moore as to the accuracy - for example, that the Saudis/Bin Laden families were interviewed by the FBI (not all of them mind you - something like 30-40 out of 130) - and the movie is in line with this. However, why are they focused on this when the fact that the administration gathered Saudi/Bin Laden families to fly them out of the US - does anyone here agree with the Bush Administration flying out these people ??? How can you possibly defend this ?
