Michael Reagan performed the duty of a true covenant-keeping son. He communicated to his own children, and the children of the world, the essence of the heart of his father.

In so doing, he delivered on behalf of his father the message that the imperfect, aged, but Christ-loving patriarch might have said himself, had Alzheimer’s not robbed him of the ability to do so.

This is the duty of a true son, and Michael did it well

Interesting that Michael and Maureen were/are Christians and Patti and Ron Jr. are not... Same father, but different mothers. I wonder about Jane Wyman's faith?

I think that Michael and Maureen were NOT RR's biological children, they were adopted.

Catholic. I also saw Michael Reagan giving the sign of the cross several times during the proceedings, both in California and DC.

Yes, but what I mean is the difference in the mothers. Biological or not, it was the difference in the way they were raised: "trained up in the way they should go, so that when the grow old they will not depart from it..." "raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord..."

That Patti and Ron Jr. either were not by their mother or rejected what they learned and were taught...

Beautifully stated. A celebration and tribute to a man well loved. Eternal, everlasting love and devotion.

Michael was adopted, but Maureen was the biological child of Ron and Jane Wyman.

I don't know about Wyman's beliefs.

It is ironic that Maureen and Michael are counted as Believers, and Ron and Patti are not.

onyx, thanks for the ping...

:<)

Eggers, I know Michael was adopted; don't know about Maureen but you are probably right.

But one thing I do know. President Ronald Reagan was (and is) Michael's Father.

Geist, yes it is a mystery to me that Michael, brought up by Wyman I believe, turned into a Man of God, a follower of Jesus Christ.

And apparently Patti and Ron did not (but that is for God to judge) even though I do believe they were both biological children of Ronnie and Nancy.

I don't know if there was a man in Jane Wyman's life as she was bringing up Michael, but I do know that the influence, and the Man that Michael patterned himself after was Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Yes Harpo, Michael's eulogy was the most poignant of them all IMO. Thanks for the ping.

Thanks for the post and the ping, Syncro.

I agree that Michael Reagan gave a wonderful eulogy for his father. It was heartfelt and emotional.

Thanks again.

I was happy to find this post tonight and thought I'd share it with you. I saw Michael Reagan deliver this speech and it brought tears to my eyes (and to his)!

I also ask for your prayers as I go to the doc's office for a checkup (PRAY FOR A GOOD ONE!!!) and some more chemo. I always get anxious and worried before the checkup and I pray the chemo is doing it's stuff and that the good Lord will bless me with a good checkup. Thanks.

Thanks for the ping, Rachel ... wonderful reading. Know that you're prayed for daily, but especially for tomorrow.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks for Your loving touch upon dear Rachel. Give her rest this night and a good report tomorrow ... strengthen her physically and spiritually, for You are the Guardian of her very being. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...
