One thing that concerns me is as the left becomes more aligned with the Islamofascists, it will become politically incorrect to mention Hitler's Jewish victims (who were, after all, his main target). I think the far left is well on its way to dismissing the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the mainstream left (if such a thing can be said to exist) will eventually follow the radicals' lead. Too many of the self-styled "progressives" and "moderates" blindly follow whatever is fashionably "radical" and anti-West.

I do think that anti-totalitarian people have to maintain the clear standard that murder is wrong, and when one goes too far into statements like "Hitler 'only' killed a few thousand of 'those people'" one is at least flirting with moral relativism. Certainly one of the primary distinctions between the totalitarians (of every stripe) and the rest of us is that the totalitarians see murder (even genocide) as a legitimate means to power (some even go so far as to see murder as a good thing in itself). Of course, I don't consider self-defense to be "murder," so assassinating Hitler or waging war against his empire would be legitimate uses of violence.

It is sobering to remember that as unimaginable and unprecedented as the Holocaust was, that was really "phase one" in Hitler's mad plans. If Hitler had won the war, all of Poland and vast parts of Russia would have been, to use a totalitarian phrase, "depopulated."

Not only was Hitler not "against gays", he surrounded himself with known homosexuals as his most intimate companions and friends. He likely was one himself - check out "The Hidden Hitler" and "The Pink Swastika".

The propaganda that homosexuals were targeted for extinction or persecution similar to the Jews is insulting to everyone and especially to Jews who did suffer horribly, and were targeted for extinction.

There are many religious Jews who are aghast and angry at this comparison. The only Jews who go along with it are secular or ethnic Jews who have bought the liberal lie.

The irony is that the vast majority of American Jews will continue to vote for Democrats. Likewise, the majority of American Jews (apparently) agree with the Democrats' Nazi-like "gun control" stance, as if they don't even WANT to be able to defend themselves the next time some big, corrupt government decides to herd them onto boxcars.

One important point is that there were NO Jewish Nazis or SS officers, NO Jewish Camp controllers, NO Jewish exterminators.

But there were plenty of homosexual Nazis, SS officers, Camp controllers, and exterminators.

ALmost all Jews (except a few that managed to hide and survive) were tormented, incarcerated, tortured and/or slaughtered mercilessly, but only a very small percentage of homosexuals were even arrested. And of those, only a small percentage died in the camps - and most of those, from disease.

Be that as it may, LJ, a victim of the Holocaust is a victim of the Holocaust, regardless of why he or she was a victim. If an individual homosexual was exterminated, he was not more or less exterminated than was a Jew who was exterminated - and therefore deseves no more or less a commemoration. I think we are speaking the same basic idea from different ends of the tunnel.

The problem is that NO homosexuals were "exterminated". Some died, most from disease, underfeeding and overwork. Some were executed - usually in connection with other crimes they were accused of, which they may or may not have done. Many of the so-called homosexuals who were arrested were really politcal enemies who were just accused of homosexuality so there would be an excuse to arrest them.

Homosexuals were NEVER - NEVER targeted for "extermination".

Jews WERE - and were therefore murdered en masse. There is a complete and absolute difference here. It's not that I don't care about homosexuals who were killed by Nazis - but there is a world of difference between a few thousand homosexuals (and not all of them were really homosexuals, mind you) killed - often for other offenses (real or imagined) and 6 MILLION innocent men, women and children mercilessly murdered solely because of their religion and ethnicity.

You really should read "The Pink Swastika". It's heavily researched and once you start it, you can't put it down.

This is the thrust of the article, and it's simply outright wrong. There was never any effort on the part of the Nazis to exterminate homosexuals that is remotely equivalent to their quest to exterminate Jews. The dreaded Paragraph 175 was actually weakened, not strengthened, as WW2 approached, and it was used almost exclusively to persecute political opponents.

Btw... that individual who said "no Arabs no terror...no Jews no Jewish problem" does not understand that his talk about the Jewish problem is not anything specific such as the AIDs, terror, and appeasement you mention in your signature (I'm sure your French remark is tongue in cheek).
