I was a founder of the 7th Tenn Cavalry, Co. D. C.S.A. (Memorial Unit) and we felt that we could pull artillery with all of the horsemen we had in the unit. Yes, the Paulsen Bros. have my gun now. At many reenactments we would do double duty, pull artillery and then go change for cavalry. The unit is still going well.

Has anyone watched the poor Mass Guard at the 4th of July Pops Concert? Over the past two years, they had a black gunner that blew at least one of his rounds by jerking the lanyard! Diversity can really suck!
<p<Any real Redleg knows that you have to pull the lanyard, not jerk it! One time he jerked so hard that he lost his grip on the lanyard knob!

Tuba ping! I was principal tuba in the VMI Regimental Band my entire cadetship! Of course, as an officer, I couldn't play in an Army band on active duty....

Ah, that is were my memory conflicted with your post. I was thinking of the M8 version of the basic M1 that you posted. We had M8s for salute purposes in our FA battalion at Ft. Knox and in Germany. I use to get to fire the pack 75 in front of the battalion HQ (2-34 FA) at Ft. Knox for retreat at 5pm when I was the duty officer's driver.

A picture of the Pack 75 that was in front of the 2-27 FA (3rd Armored Div) headquarters at Friedberg, Germany was in the pocket book edition of Jane's Field Artillery beginning in the mid-70s. I haven't seen a post 1995 edition so I don't know if they are still using the photo or if it is even listed.
