My wife and I are both Sewanee '86!
This cr*p was starting when we were there. In '82 when I started it was a freewheelin' place. By the time I graduated there was no more Party Weekend, but an Erotic Film Festival and a "Peace and Nonviolence" course.
That new Pokemon dining hall is bad enough. If they go through with this they don't get another cent from these alumni.
Bless that rock-ribbed English department! Ecce quam bonum.

I'll be damned if I'll roll over to the PC crowd!
American by birth! Southren by the Grace of God!
At some point in time, we Southrens are gonna have to make a stand! Every time I read an article like this one, I wonder how many more assaults on our history we will endure?
At some point, the asses of those who assault us are gonna get kicked!

Hey! We overlapped a year: I showed up in '85.
I forgot about the Erotic Film Festival! Yeah, there were always things on the edges, and the Old Hospital was lost in a constant purple haze, but on the whole I remember the students being more conservative than the teachers, sometimes considerably so!
But yeah, you're right, if any course goes in the catalog with the word "lesbian" in the title, I'm sending my angel back, because Sewanee will have officially jumped the shark.
Down with the heathens, up with the Church! (What's left of it...)

To downplay the word South, the name of the school has now been changed to "Sewanee: The University of the South." My grandfather was a member of the class of 1903. And this was exactly how he always referred to the school -- he went "to Sewanee, the University of the South".
Moreover, this was how their letterhead and recruiting material read when they were recruiting my son in 1985.
So, I wonder if the writer isn't making more of this affair than exists in reality.

Should I whine and bitch and moan and blame political correctness, No, living in Massachusetts, I think simply moaning will do.
