I adored President Reagan, but it is a mistake to replace Alexander Hamilton with him.
Were it not for Hamilton, banana republics would be called "pine tree" republics after corrupt oligarchy we would have been. Imagine Argentina writ large.
If any man should be on currency, it is Alexander Hamilton. To suggest otherwise nearly 200 years before his martyrdom is near sacrelige.
Put Reagan on the $1 coin.

Do you realize what Hamilton did for this country?
He was a volunteer soldier, commissioned to the Continental army. There he was an artillery officer who helped save the army from annihilation at the battle of Harlem (now Morningside) Heights.
Hamilton was a strong proponent of a national government and a driving force behind the Constitution. He then co-authored the Federalist Papers.
Hamilton was the first Secretary of the Treasury, supporting a sound currency, national industry, and payment of debts. He pushed forward our financial system, our path to industrialization, and our currency markets. Hamilton's vision and sacrifices laid the foundation for our industrial Empire of liberty.
Finally, Hamilton gave his life to prevent the political assension of Aaron Burr, who sought to gain power by dividing the nation.
Hamilton may never have reached the highest elective office of the land, by he did far more for this country than all but a handfull of presidents combined.

Are you calling one of the main opponents of Jacobinism a leftist? If you want a liberal, look at the original salon recolutionary, Jefferson who held parties with toy guillotines.
Hamilton was a nationalist, a traditionalist, a believer in sound currency, and a believer in equality, not egalitarianism. As the preeminent Federalist theorist, he was one of America's first ideological conservatives.

How about the $20 bill? Most folks get 20's from their ATM's, and they are usually relatively new, crisp bills.

The $1 coin is not widely used.

While I am not a fan of Andrew Jackson, he was an important president and historical figure. That is more than I can say for the historical footnote on the current atrocity to currency.

Thne same argument could be made on behalf of any President. If you're going to put Reagan on a coin or a bill, wouldn't it be a lot more fitting to replace someone who was never president? Replacing Roosevelt on the dime would be far more controversial than replacing Hamilton on the $10.
