Keillor is an enemy of america. Not THE enemy but An enemy.

No he isn't. He is a guy who does a wonderful show every week, that I enjoy along with my very conservative father. Previous threads on the subject, with rantings of bitter people on Free Republic have not changed my mind on that fact yet. And you know what? - I don't want my mind changed. It is something neat I share with my dad, and my life would be less without it.

Its not about YOU.. Obviously you did'nt read the link I trusted you with. You're not very trustworthy. You're time with you're dad and the truth are not mutual or connected. Keillor is a scum bag like it or not. Billy Crystal and Robin Williams are also very good at what they do and are ALSO scum bags.. Have a nice day OR NOT..

I dont agree with kiellors politics but would rather listen to him than watch the dumbass drivel that most of hollywood shoves down americas throat day in and day out.

Ya he's a lib, so are some of my family, I beg to differ on maters of gov policy, but on matters of the heart?

The link went to other Garrison Keillor related threads, many of which, I have probably read before and participated on at the time. Like I said. The grumpy people here haven't convinced me yet not to love a Prairie Home Companion. You won't either. This thread is a good example of many of the discussions. A bunch of people going off on assumptions that aren't even accurate.

Ever actually listened to it?

Did you listen to this clip? - This is the silliest thing I have ever heard anyone get upset about.

Feel free to enjoy his show. I feel barely a tenth of the guilt the 'uptight set' tries to lay on me!

He speaks of people I "know" in his stories. He's a master. He's not political on his show, hardly ever, and when he does mention politics, it's usually funny.

he does get political at times and it makes me wince when he makes libs the good guys, but if you listen long enough, he always has a place in his heart for the other camp as well.

He generally tells stories that include dilemmas and feelings we all can relate to

Many times.. Good show Prarie Home Companion...
I listen to Robin Williams and Billy Crystal too..
Nevertheless, ALL democrats are traitors or enablers of traitors..

And as I said, listening to a traitor don't mean you're supporting them.. You on the other hand seem to be supporting Keillor.... see ya later Garrison...

I am pretty happy in my life, I keep it simple. I don't need complex rationale to enjoy a program. I just enjoy it.

Keillor has got a lot of you fooled. In almost every show he kicks the right. Like recently when he had his political soulmate Al Franken featured. But he does it so slick he has the audience in his pocket. He charms the audience with his laid back, folksy manner, then lowers his lance and rips the right's guts out. I like his down home music, etc., but the devious way he rips the right really turns me off. Despicable in my book.

Maybe some would, I won't dispute you. I won't go off in a crying jag, meself. Celebrating seems a bit much.

OTOH my mom keeps steaks in the freezer for when Arafat meets Allah, and considers it a personal affront when I periodically require (insofar as one may require one's mom) to get new ones and use the old. Freezer burn, ya know.

Political humor is an incredibly small part of the show (much less than Jay Leno, David Letterman, Dennis Miller, and going back to Johnny Carson and before, etc.). Since you apparently listen to every show, you probably know that.

You probably also know, it's called keeping the material current. You don't honestly expect him to keep telling Clinton jokes in 2004 do you? He had some of the funniest (and cleanest) Clinton jokes during the '90s, and as funny as I found them, I never expected him to keep telling them (well he still tells Hillary jokes, but it's proportional to how often she pops up in the news).

I don't care for some of the political humor, but I'm not going to let less than %5 of the show keep me from enjoying the other 95%+, just like I'm not going to let the fact that it or Car Talk are on NPR keep me from listening.
