Well for one thing i wouldnt carry it in the small of my back i would carry it as a sidearm in a holster and gunbelt just as i have for some 30 years now

Most people that carry have been through several holsters and methods until they find one that works the best and is most comfortable for them.

In Idaho it's called a concealed weapon license, and I will point you to a website (pdf file) where you can read about it.

What does Idaho state law have to do with something that happened in New Hampshire?

Hell, Idaho state law doesn't even apply in Idaho if a federal jackbooted thug is involved.

It specficicly instructs you to keep your weapon concealed, and suggests that you may be contacted by the police if you inadvertantly display it.

Big deal. A police officer can "contact" you for just about any reason whatsoever.

"Contact" is much different than "assault, harass, and intimidate".

"I've got an ID CCW permit. ID is still an open carry state, and I've never been hassled for carrying openly, even in Boise."

So do I, and yes, Idaho IS an open carry state except that cities and towns (including Boise) that have local laws concerning open carry. These local restrictions would be misdemeanors offenses I believe, but you still could be "harassed" by the local police.

It makes the point that even in a FREE state like Idaho, you have to be mind full of displaying your weapon in public...

What the he!! do you expect back east? If you're going to carry a concealed weapon, keep it concealed!

How many different ways does someone have to explain it to you. There is a difference between open carry and concealed. Open is legal in NH. Laws in ID re concealed have nothing to do with that.

"Yes. The consequences should be that he will soon own the town where this happened, and the cops that harassed him will lose their jobs and face federal felony charges."

Ah, we can dream, can't we?

Incorrect. here in Florida the business owner has the right to ask law enforcement to "challenge" you if he believes you are armed and violating his establishments policy concerning firearms. Then he has the right not to serve you, and ask you to leave his business.

Thank you for empowering the enemies of the Second Amendment, for you are indeed a "Gun Nut". Again rest assured almost all private businesses, and retailers in N.H., do NOT allow morons to open carry in their businesses. Therefore people do NOT have the right to open carry inside businesses that do not allow such asinine behavior.

I believe anyone who is in a retail establishment, carrying an open firearm, outside of being a uniformed guard, policeman, security, or at a gun shop, gun show, etc, is indeed an idiot as well as a moron, and a bad citizen.

No, we business owners with brains, unlike the dimwitted hicks and yaboo's on this thread, would carry themselves, yet ban their customers from doing likewise. Hope it is'nt too confusing for the hicks and yaboo's, but I doubt it.

The business owner can ask you to leave for any reason, including if you are carrying a firearm.

But it is not a violation of Florida law to carry in an business place that has a "no guns" sign posted.

My guess the reason this idiot behavior is allowed is due to an oversight, just as here in Florida back in the 1970's , for a while shotguns were illegal, and machine guns were not. The Legislature of course corrected the oversight. I contend a poll in N.H. asking if it should be allowed for people to open carry firearms at malls, and shopping centers would fail by a huge margin. If there was a mall around where I live , where people open carried guns in the small of their backs, like the clod in N.H., I certainly would keep my children away from such a "clowns den"

I appreciate the compliment.

As for "empowering the enemies of the Second Amendment", banning open carry does a lot for them. 30 years from now most Americans will neither own a gun, nor will they be accustomed to seeing other Americans peaceably carry (if nobody open carries). How do you think they are going to vote?

Again rest assured almost all private businesses, and retailers in N.H., do NOT allow morons to open carry in their businesses

Wrong again. I'm aware of very few establishments that have hasseled customers over lawfully carrying openly. In Virginia, for example, it's a very common practice in restaurants since open carry is legal there, but concealed is illegal.

Therefore people do NOT have the right to open carry inside businesses that do not allow such asinine behavior

Lawful open carry is not "asinine behavior". It is the Right of every American. The issue was settled at Yorktown.

I'd like to see you try to "ban" customers from carrying here in Florida.

With your arrogant attitude, you'd likely end up being sued in civil court, and perhaps even charged criminally.

Pelletier was carrying a pistol openly at the small of his back, which became apparent after he took off his jacket.

Um, in other words, he was carrying a concealed weapon. What kind of trash writing is this? I absolutely back the Second Amendment, I own firearms, and I know how to use them. But this kind of article doens't help us one bit. It's either poorly written, or completely misleading. If your gun is in the small of your back, and only apparent once you take off your jacket, then its not being "openly" carried.

If both open and concealed carry is lawful, it doesn't matter.

People here keep missing the point that these officers very likely committed federal felonies, on top of any state charges involving deprivation of civil rights and battery.

You can't just go up grabbing folks who are peaceably engaged in lawful behavior. He was not breaking any laws, nor did the officers have probably cause that he was breaking any laws.

I'll try to make this simple as I can, A business owner cannot refuse to serve you for any reason, such as being a minority, etc. However if the business has a no gun policy, you do not have the right to shop there, he can ask you to leave, if you do not, you are in violation of the law, and subject to arrest. TO SUM IT UP, YABOO'S, THE OWNER OF THE BOOK STORE DOESN'T WANT DUMBASSES WALKING AROUND WITH A GUN IN THE SMALL OF HIS BACK!!!!!, and my bet is, neither do 99% of the shoppers in the book store with him.
