Hagel is the Republican's answer to Bill Clinton; there is nothing he won't do, no one he won't screw to gain power for himself. Anything that get's Hagel's name in the headlines, anything that gives Hagel an opporunity to get his face on the Sunday TV "news" talk shows, anything that gives Hagel a chance for more time in the media will be done. That's the most eloquenct summary of Chuck Hagel I've ever read, and I totally agree.
Hagel has the distinction of being the earliest candidate running for president in 2008. He was running (for Prez08) back in 2000 when he desperately wanted to be Dubya's running mate; he probably switched over to Prez04 for a few months between the time he was turned down for VP (oh the indignity!) and when Bush was elected; then he was back to planning for 2008 again by copying the McCain playbook.

Does anyone else think the Her Heinous and Hubby are fomenting all these ridiculous rumors in order to diminish Kerry even further?

Anybody know if Jumping Jim Jeffords is a Vietnam veteran? If so, as Kerry's VP he could commit political suicide again.

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, said Vilsack's life story could balance that of Kerry, who was raised in privilege and schooled at Yale University. Vilsack, an orphan who grew up to become a city council member and mayor in Iowa before winning the governorship, could play well in small towns across the Midwest, a key battleground in the presidential race, he said.
I can see it now. Their campaign theme would change to "Vote for The Prince and The Pauper!" Don't they understand that to appeal to Flyover Country you have to have principles and that people here don't vote based on appearances? Sheepdips.

A DSM TV station did a poll recently and Kerry does worde in Iowa with Vilsack as VP than he does without hime. He actually goes from winning to losing IIRC.

Does anyone else think the Her Heinous and Hubby are fomenting all these ridiculous rumors I think Kerry is fomenting them. He believes that every time he's mentioned in the same breath as moderate Republicans it helps him with swing voters, and he may well be right.

" "I'm a Republican; I'm going to remain a Republican; I'm supporting this president for reelection," he told reporters in a weekly conference call. "
Since when ??
I have never seen Hagel say anything positive or supportive about President Bush or his policies. Not once.
Hagel is a back stabbing, puffy eyed, Biden licking weasel.

The overwhelming majority of the Democratic party (both the establishment and the rank and file) think that Kerry is pathetic. Earlier today I was in Sears and saw a guy actually still wearing his "Dennis Kucinich for President" t-shirt. It was all I could to not burst out laughing hysterically.

It's hysterical. I remarked a few weeks ago when the McCain name first surfaced that it amazed me that the dems felt the only way they could win was to get a REPUBLICAN on their ticket. ROTFLOL!!

I tend to agree with your assessment. However, as one who had to suffer Hagel's repeated appearances on my VERY FARORITE talk radio station on Earth--KFAB, in Omaha--it was fairly clear that about three years ago Hagel began using the aforementioned tactic of seducing the liberal media to gain national recognition as a means of preparing himself for 2004 (not 2008), in case President Bush was weak enough to challenge from within the party, or if "W" decided not to run again.
I posed the possibility of Hagel's unstated intentions on that radio station about two years ago, and got Hagel's ire and denial. He (Hagel) said that it was his duty to make his disagreements with the President known in order to be doing his duty to the voters.
Really? Hagel can't make his disagreements known directly to the President?
Apparently Senator Hagel assumed that everyone listening to him were idiots. There is no reason for Hagel to go to the media with his disagreements with President Bush, other than to gain "face-time" for himself. As a Republican US Senator, is Hagel trying to say that President Bush isn't taking his calls? He simply had to make his every disagreement with President Bush a topic for discussion on Meet The Press? Give me a break!
I guess I should be amused, but the manner in which Hagel whores his two years in the military to establish some sort of "expertise" is despicable.
As a career military officer, I find him unjustifiably arrogant and insufferably nauseating. I wish Nebraska voter base had the testicles to elect a true Republican, rather than a narcissistic, self-serving joke like Hagel.
