A very prominent black pastor I know pretty well is extremely concerned about the spread of Islam in black communities . . . but not white communities . . . because it isn't SPREADING THERE.
Judaism is not a race of course. So blacks may apply. Arabs too.
The issue is that it's discouraged, and extremely difficult to enter. Purposely so, and with good reason.
That's true.
If we retreat and don't finish the job in Iraq, MILLIONS of young men, black and white will convert. The winner always is more attractive. Don't you remember after Vietnam how Eastern philosophies became all the rage? Young people gravitate to where the perceived power is. That would be one of the unintended consequences of leaving this battle unfinished.
It's more fashionable for the media to report black youth interested in 'islam' because of Louis Farrakhan. However, maybe you don't meet them but I meet a lot of white young people VERY interested in islam and not the 'jail house' conversions thanks to Louis Farrakhan. Black muslims aren't even real islam as many real muslims will tell you. There have always been black people converting to judaism but I guess because of the WOT maybe some reporter took notice.
yep exactly
Well, I think by any statistics collected by any group, blacks are the fastest-growing ethnicity of Muslims in America, bar none.
Yep. The more I look at it, the more it looks like a crusade, whether we want it to be or not.
London. I'm talking AMERICA.
I know but it is happening here too. The media isn't wrriting about it though. I suppose it'll make everyone feel better to say it's only a 'black' issue and only the 'black ethnic portion' is interested in islam. Just because you don't read about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
I didn't say it was ONLY a "black issue." I said that it was DISPORPORTIONATELY a black issue in America. That is undeniable. In the prisons, the Muslims have run wild.
Actually, christianity is more popular than islam with in prison. The interest has been in decline since 9-11. I've met more men who converted to christianity than islam while in jail. The christian outreach programs have better rate of success.
It's disproportionately an American issue BTW. I don't think there are such things as 'black' issues or anyone's issues. As long as we're all living in this country, it's everyone's issue.
And right now, Islam is a bone-chilling "black issue." Believe me, nobody in suburban white schools is worried about Muslims "converting" their kids---but as I say, in the inner city black communities, it is a BIG issue.
Christian outreach programs are good, but I hear a LOT of preachers who have prison ministries who are VERY concerned about the spread of Islam in prisons.
*LOL* Okay we definatey have a difference of opinion.
The christian ministries are doing severe spiritual battle. The 'civil liberties' groups certainly aren't helping and are very responsible for eliminating the christian groups thus allowing the spiritual vacuum to be filled by other groups.
You missed my overall point. Nevermind.
I can also identify to an extent with the Black search for "roots" as a people who, for the most part, are descended from people ripped from their own cultures and homelands (mostly sold by other Blacks) and brought here against their will (though most poor whites were also dumped here as indentured servants or convict labor). I have also spent a lifetime trying to find "roots" as well as the Truth. The thing is, the poor rural Southern whites are no more traditional chr*stians than are Blacks, so why aren't more of them restive and dissatisfied with their form of chr*stianity, which history insists has no roots in the ancient chr*stian past but which is a creation of only at least the last four centuries or so? My people also seem completely oblivious to how much the authentic chr*stians seem to despise them while Black chr*stians are quite aware of how other chr*stians have treated them. Why aren't we searching? Of course some of them are. We have pioneered the Benei Noach movement (miniscule as it is), though unfortunately some of us have turned towards racist "identity" pseudo-Israelite groups or to the ancient churches. The TaNa"KH has always had such a hold on us, yet we seem incapable of separating it from the "new testament" or even considering the possibility that the "new testament" is not really part of the Bible. For people who have been so loyal to chr*stianity, you'd think the vast majority of chr*stendom would appreciate them a little more. But unfortunately, the vast majority of chr*stendom are ashamed of simple people (unless they are people of color) and to want to appeal only to intellectuals.
There may be a few of us who have actually converted to Judaism (which I would have done if I thought I could pull it off). Unfortunately, even if 50% of us became Jews you wouldn't hear anything about it because no one wants us. Every religion on earth blares trumpets when they make inroads among any other group, but no one wants us . . . the authentic (liturgical) chr*stians least of all.
Sorry. Just thinking out loud.
