"Bush, Sr. always was a nice man, just a major disappointment as POTUS..."
Well, perhaps in some areas but I'd take disappointment any day of the week compared to the outrageous vulgarity and in your face deceit we endured from '93-'01.

"I'd take disappointment any day of the week compared to the outrageous vulgarity and in your face deceit we endured from '93-'01." Must we accept disappointment in our President, Darlin'?!

Essays like this undermine the conspiracy theories. This just isn't the writing of a crypto-Nazi arch villian who clinks his champagne glass with the truly evil and power-mad of the world and laughs maniacally behind our backs.

You must be a Dem if you read it with such a jaundiced eye.

I don't for an instant believe that GEorge Herbert Walker Bush, went to all the trouble of writing this fine article to gloat over how much more wealthy he is than most of us. I for one, believe that the Bush clan are entirely open and honest in their relations with everyone else and never in their wildest imagination would dream that anyone would resent their success earned the old fashioned way, nor be jealous of the fact they can journey farther and more comfortable in retirement than we.
The article was about being eighty, and the physical limitations that age inflicts upon us all-and how we deal with it. GHW Bush, should be an inspiration to us all.

What are you suggesting we do Mud?
I feel better being disappointed sometime with a President of our choice, than watching a piece of dogsh*t we didn't choose, flushing the country down the toilet.
You want us to dump Bush? For what?

No, I'd hope not, but we don't need to pick up a red, glowing horseshoe to know its hot either.

At 80, I find I still look forward to things. I still have goals. I look forward to my parachute jump on my 80th birthday. Barbara is okay with it, but she has managed to contain her enthusiasm. "One way or another, George, this will be your final jump." I asked her to rephrase it. She wouldn't.Still has his sense of humor. :^)

I liked this article. Thanks for the ping.
I thought it was a pretty humble.
He (GHWB) always seemed like a good guy, and honorable, even if he did break his no new taxes pledge.

but at times I literally find it hard to realize that we actually lived in the White House. When we go back there I love to go through the West Wing or browse through the residence. The President and Laura always make us feel so welcome."
I am sometimes overcome with emotion when I sit alone in the President's private office on the second floor of the residence. That marvelous White House staff, the men and women who see Presidents come and go and treat them all with respect, always seem to be welcoming us home.
A person would have to have a bitter, mean, or jealous streak in himself, to interpret this any other way than an honorable man expressing honorable and grateful thoughts.

Would that more people share our sentiments. Then the socialists, thugs, tyrants, and assorted minions of Satan will have no more power and influence.

"You want us to dump Bush? For what?" No way...I'm fully expecting a Bush Presidency to run until January of 2009. However, we on the Right cannot be satisfied with his performance to date and must pressure his Adminsitration to start championing fiscally-conservative legislation. Still, said legislation must originate in the House, and THERE is where our energies must be focused!! My representative is Eric Cantor and he's Deputy Whip...in the next few months, our paths will cross several times, and I intend to give him a stern talking to about outta control spending...heh heh heh!!
No way I do anything to get a DemonRAT elected as POTUS...MUD
