"For his militia, composed mainly of poor, young men"

Typical liberal news error in this sentence:

"For his militia, composed mainly of poor, young dead men . . . ."

I think you know that for a couple of months, now, I've been trying to tell people that the Marines in Fallujah and the Army in Najaf and Karbala have ahd similar goals, which is to kill the baddies without destroying the cities and turning hundreds of thousands of neutral or pro-coalition civilians against us. It now seems on both fronts we are having remarkable success. Sun Tzu said patience was a central virtue. Guess the old Chinaman was right.

"Things weren't as bad as they seemed"

Too many Americans have no idea what war is like.

It takes time, and there are always setbacks. Even though the allies won WWII there were many battles lost along the way.

When I hear people saying "Oh my God! we've lost over 700 soldiers there", I want to point out that during Vietnam there were periods where we were losing over 100 per day.

If the mainstream press were accurately putting this into perspective, most would understand that it is a slow, deadly process, but that we ARE winning.

If we want to turn this into a Vietnam, we can: just cut and run. Then what will those lives we have lost mean?

God Bless our troops and their families.

Yup -- too many FReepers (to say nothing of the general population) have instant gratification syndrome.

Keep the faith, people.

I know you were a strong supporter of what they have been doing all along. The amazing thing is, half the people who are complaining that this is going to turn into another Vietnam are screaming because we aren't rampaging through Iraq making it into a Vietnam.
