"Absolutely. I am for the war on drugs and I would support a war on porn, too."

Supporting a war on porn is different than saying everyone who watches porn should go to prison.

There's nothing oppressive about combatting error. It's an act of charity.

Nanny-statism of the highest order.

Do commie professors serve the common good?

Yes. Their views are a part of the marketplace of ideas. Adults should be allowed to decide for themselves whether those ideas hold any merit. Such a decision is not up to the state.

Then how do you suggest you fight your war on porn?

Go after the suppliers and the producers. Just like the other wars. Improve rating systems on content. And give local and state communities the right to ban it without fear of legal battles.

We already fight a limited war on porn, ie child pornography. It wouldn't be that hard to step it up a little.

Why don't we just go all out and ban EVERYTHING that could possible hurt someone?

Are you for that?

That would be ridiculous.

No, that is extending you logic to other issues. You see, other people think that things you enjoy/support are just as bad/if not worse than you think porn is.

You forget that these weapons/laws you want can fall into the wrong hands and be used against you.

Putting a man and wife in jail because the sell tapes of themselves having sex to other adults is INSANE.

It's discussion like this, and some of the people on them, that make me very glad that we have the right to bear arms in this country.

"No, that is extending you logic to other issues."

It's a ridiculous extension. Porn causes widespread harm and a general degradation of societal values. It is a significant factor in the breakup of families that gives rise to the welfare state.

What's more porn is not something that the nation generally tolerated until the late 20th century, when judicial activism began turning this country's values upside down.

The same can be said of guns, fatty foods, drinking, smoking, driving fast cars, and sports.

This isn't a theocracy and you still haven't proven that porn causes what you say it does.

The overarching objective of the penalty should be the advancement of the common good. If the penalty is too harsh, greater societal vice, such as the corruption of law enforcement, can result. [...] Intrinsic evils are acts that are evil in every circumstance.

Does it include oral sex between married partners?

Yes.

I can't believe that criminalizing oral sex between married partners will advance the common good. How do you think society will be helped by criminalizing oral sex in this way?

"The same can be said of guns, fatty foods, drinking, smoking, driving fast cars, and sports."

Another straw man.

Unlike Porn all of those have been around since the country's inception with the exception of fast cars. And of those only drinking and smoking are harmful.

The Bible as far as I'm aware neither condones nor prohibits oral sex. The following two references from Song of Solomon are thought by many to be veiled references celebrating oral sex.

(Bride) Awake, O north wind And come, wind of the south Make my garden breathe out fragrance Let its spices be wafted abroad May my beloved come into his garden And eat its choice fruits! (4:16)

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest So is my beloved among the young men In his shade I took great delight and sat down And his fruit was sweet to my taste. (2:3)

Well, it bothers me, that some people think Christians are complete prudes, when it was our God who invented sex. And while they think they are more liberated, they merely pervert and denigrate what was designed to be wonderful.

People who complain about oral sex being dirty are probably wanting some so badly but AREN'T GETTING ANY. I think an anti-sex religious nut (not only christians but any religion) is as bad as a pervert.

Then should drinking and smoking be banned if they are harmful like porn is? If not, what is the difference?
