Render unto Caesar...As we both know, the problem lies in the fact that many folks are more than willing to sit back and let somebody else do the enlisted service. There are dozens of military occupational specialties he could volunteer for that would keep him far away from the battlefield.
I wonder if he'd consider our conscripted troops that liberated Europe as slaves?
A. Currently the sons of the prosperous by and large do not serve. Under the current system, the daughters of the poor serve instead.

I prefer to lay the blame squarely where it belongs - with the individuals who wake up in the morning just like every other mortal man, yet think they have some bizarre right to inflict their twisted views on others simply for the fact that they in a position to do so and haven't the morals to refrain.
God didn't make gun grabbers, slavemasters or Nazi's into the foul transgressors upon other's lives that they are. Oh far from it. They choose to commit evil and force themselves upon others because they are addicted to power and care not one bit for the rights of others. They get all of the credit for their despicible behavior they richly deserve.
LOL!!! You know, as much as I don't want this to occur because I have a son that falls into that category, I think it would be a good thing for our children. The other thing that comes to mind is that "Freedom isn't free." Most kids these days don't understand that. Obviously, this guy doesn't either.

The problem isn't insufficent volunteers. The problem is our absurd global policeman and international nanny service that isn't any of our duty or responsibility.
Until every last troop is withdrawn from places like Kosovo, Korea, Japan, Haiti and about 100 others, I don't beleive that we're empty handed.
Giving our government more soldiers at this time is akin to giving a man with a gambling problem money to pay his rent. Of course he needs to pay his rent (just as we need to defend this country) but he'll blow every last cent you give him for rent at the casino. Of course he'll have an excuse lined up. Give him money when he's short and you have no say in how it is used (it will be gambled). When we've given up this gambling habit (global adventure) then and only then can our government be trusted with more soldiers than will volunteer.
Oh. I thought this was an assessment of the Kansas City Chiefs' draft this year.

It appears by your choice of words that you think other people's children are community property. And if the community thinks a stint in the military would be good for them, who are they or their parents to say otherwise?
