Well, I have to be out of the house by 5:30 in the morning for a two hour drive to a doctor's appointment, so I'm off to bed. I'm sure I'm leaving just before the good stuff gets started, but I'll catch up tomorrow.

Again, thank you everyone for all of the welcomes. I haven't been able to keep up with you all yet, but I got all of the messages! I will get the hang of keeping things straight soon, hopefully.

I've been thinking about this quote for the last several days and believe it is just as applicable to us as it was when Adams spoke it generations ago. He so eloquently summed up the prize and the price. Thank you to all the men and women who have recognized the value and honor of the prize and willingly paid the demanded price. I thank God every day that President Bush and the people under his command follow President Jackson's advice. They will go in until we have finished the job, for that we owe them everything.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your richest blessings in our lives. Thank You for the Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines who daily seek out our enemies and protect us from harm. Keep them in Your care, guide, strenghten and guard them. Be with the families they have left behind, especially the children. Father, give their mothers the resolve to support their husbands and an extra measure of patience and understanding to nurture each child. Give the fathers tenderness and compassion to console the boys and girls who long for their mothers. Help each of us to seek out ways to make the road easier for the troops and the families of the deployed. Thank you for gathering those, and adding your eloquent prayer.

In going back to the thread where WVNan and I met last summer for the girlhood picture deadhead created for us, I came upon a picture of a Very Young LadyX at age 18 with one of my graduating platoons I instructed in classroom subjects.

Note the terrible green and white striped seersucker uniforms we had, that had to be hand starched (old cooked variety!) strongly enough so that when you dampened and ironed it, the skirt stood up on its hem without toppling over!
Then, of course, after 10 minutes of wear, it was already a wrinkled mess if you moved..:))
