I've heard some of the same things you've heard.
Sometimes you just get a bunch that are bad.
the important thing is that we reject them when their unfitness becomes undeniable - unlike our moonrock-worshipping friends, who elevate their worst to the highest pedestal of adulation.

I think that you'll probably see Spanish declared the official language of the United States-though that doesn't seem as implausible a scenario as it once would have-before we start drafting women.
Not that your point about the inequality of the situation isn't completely valid, but I just don't think that most people look at it from that perspective.

the military has two valid jobs:
1. kill people
2. bust s*** up
anything else is at BEST window-dressing, and at worst cripplingly counterproductive.

I think the only people not seeing it from my perspective are the rabid femi-nazis. I've shut a bunch of them up when they start spouting their crap just by asking when they are going to support a move to have 18 year old women register with selective service.
As a woman I do believe I should be granted the same consideration and pay for a job that I am as equally capable of and qualified for as a man. As a woman I also believe there are many jobs that I am not as capable of doing as a man. As an intelligent person I can tell the difference.
These are probably the most hypocritical, myopic people out there.
Just look at the how NAG, Eleanor Smeal, and all of their shrewish buddies handled the accusations of Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, et. al., who had legitimate allegations of sexual assault on the part of Bill Clinton. Then compare it to how they reacted to the preliminary accusations leveled against Republicans like Bob Packwood and Daniel Crane.

This is the scandal throughout the military. I saw it in the Air Force 25 years ago, and it only seems to have gotten worse.
