What you say is true, except that it's not as if the 50-75K range is living hand-to-mouth.

Also, trust me, there are plenty of women that are explicit about NOT wanting to have kids or marriage and thus have no reason to fear money troubles. It's not the family stability they are worried about.

And I'm not talking about 27 year old women, which I would actually understand, I'm talking the young ones too.

Rejected by eHarmony. *sigh*

On what bases does eHarmony reject people?

Great idea! When I was single, about 10 years ago, I did put an ad in the local singles classified magazine. I started it by saying DITTOHEADS ONLY! I met some really nice people.

You're also talking about women who are attempting to find their mates on-line -- it's sort of like man-shopping, and those who practice it are most likely a self-selecting group that is perhaps pre-disposed to the mercenary instincts you're talking about.

If you don't want to meet such mercenaries, perhaps you would do better to look where they're not -- a church, perhaps.

Sorry if that question was too nosy.

I was just (randomly) thinking about how eHarmony recently ran a bunch of ads on a local Christian radio station here. Not sure if the company is owned by Christians, but it seemed they wanted to project a wholesome image. So, just as an example, I can imagine why they might reject homosexual applicants.

LOL! In my book, that's a badge of honor.

I've seen that duechbag (sp?) advertise for that site on TV, and I would refuse to participate simply on the principle that some computer software is able to determine a "match" for me.

I know for a fact, that I would get rejected as I'm sure my responses would stump their personality profile.

Dunno. That wasn't why I was bounced...

It also works the other way! I watched someone I know go from rock-solid conservative to squishy, guilt-ridden RINO after marrying a knee-jerk lib.

Than your friend wasn't rock solid. Once you've seen the light, you don't go back.

One thing makes a Lib a Lib...arrogance. Many people can be GOP and arrogant of course, (North-Eastern Bluebloods, for example), but when they realize that Liberalism fits their arrogance better, they suually switch, or turn blueblood moderate. The bluebloods are basicly Democrats that don't like taxes.

Libs are people that believe, "they know whats best". People THINK it's Republicans that think this, but in reality we think, "I don't know best, but we should be free to try and find out for ourselves whats best WITHOUT the Government forcing our hand".

Your friend was an arrogant person that thought Republicans were the same, but found an arrogant puke mate that showed them their true home in the Democratic party.

People's politics usually reflect those of their parents. As long as someone is intelligent and good natured, they can be eventually brought over from the dark side.

My wife of 23 years is from an old school "FDR saved us from the Depression" Democrat family. She is now to the right of me on most issues. It took about 15 years for the conversion. It's a gradual process. It takes patience. She just needed exposure to facts and her own real world experiences to see the light.

LOL! I just hung up the phone with a handsome guy I met the other day who wanted to ask me out on a date. We were fine discussing things we have in common until it got to politics. When I told him one of my passions is politics, he said, "I hope you're not for Bush." I responded, "It's been nice talking to you."

He then insisted he was at one time a Republican and had even voted for George H.W. Bush. Sorry, Michael. I don't want to spend an entire evening out explaining my convictions about the president. I've already been through that with my ex-husband. :o)

As would I, but as usual supply and demand are against us.

Now maybe I'm not short enough (5'4") but I'd always preferred men 5' 6" - 5' 8 1/2". (I don't like to crane my neck.)

Then I go and marry a guy who's 6'. Oh well... :-)

That's what disgusts me about many women(or most?)

Then you have a problem with the opposite sex. Females have been selecting mates based on perceived ability to provide since time began. Get over it. Or be disgusted in yourself for wanting a mate with noticable breasts.

I wasn't aware providing and giving someone the world were the same thing. If you looked at all the posts, you'd see what Hammerhead and I were talking about where the huge amount of responses one would receive with a listed income of 150+K. Far cry from merely "providing."

And you don't know a thing about my preferences either way. I'm a lot more broad-minded than a lot of guys. Nor do I demand as first condition a woman with huge breasts, a perfect face and shape, etc.

The girls from DemocraticSingles.com will have sex with you on the first date, and they don't even think fellatio is sex (depending on your definition of 'is') ... so they got that going for them.

I checked. There's really no one on those sites, at least not in the Northwest.
