I was reading this old thread tonight, and I was thinking in the same vein.
Reading that old thread, I noticed how both the US and Soviet governments became infested with a criminal class right around the same point in time as the Russian crime syndicate suddenly exploded in NYC.
Right around the time the Berlin wall fell.
We are completely rotten at the top.

Golitsyn warned that: 1. the USSR would fake it's own collapse, 2. we might witness the fall of the Berlin wall, 3. there would be a fake split between China and the USSR, 4. the Warsaw pact would be disolved"
I'm in the process of reading Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipelago", and there are many ominous similarities between the mindset of many in this country and those in the old Soviet Union.
He states how few people resisted when they jackboots came to haul them off to the camps. There is a lesson there.
